if you look left, and then right you see all the talk is about supply side "solutions." More opec pumping, more ethanol, more tar sands. More coal plants. More nuke plants.

No one sit down and say "what about demand side mon?"

Conservation does not fit in to the megamachine.

We can not stop, stop, and conserve and save what is.

It's been proposed (and implemented on small levels) for electrical generation: Electric Utility Demand-Side Management. Can't do the same for US drivers at the moment, that would be political suicide. High prices do the trick of course. We just have to hope they won't get too high too fast for all commodities.
