Perhaps he's being alarmist...but in his talks with the people who have lost their jobs through de-industrialization, he detects the same kind of rage that put Hitler in power. He claims much of visible anger- from the ditto-heads who hang on Limbaugh's every word, to the people who fire-bomb mosques - is displaced. What people are really furious about are the economic issues. Jobs and healthcare. Until that improves, the rage will only grow.

Unfortunately, I fear it will get worse...a lot worse...before it gets better.

I was talking with someone yesterday about this. The US is slowly killing itself, and I don't see us reversing that course without some major changes that are not likely to happen. We've already exported much of our manufacturing capability. Now we're exporting our service sector as well (e.g. - the export of software development (my specialty) to India, etc.). With the Baby Boom generation nearing retirement age, where does the government expect to get the funds to pay for Social Security, when the good jobs are going away and nobody will make enough to pay taxes for it?

Combine Peak Oil, the coming worldwide food shortages, climate change, and the coming economic trainwreck, and it appears that sometime during my lifetime, we may just see a complete collapse of the USA. Good thing I cancelled my 401(k) and am paying off my debt.
