The Yemen bomb blast appears worse than original reports would indicate.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'F')urther heightening worries, a bomb blast damaged a pipeline in northern Yemen Monday, halting oil flow to the Hudeida export terminal on the Red Sea, according to Agence France-Presse. The pipeline has a capacity 155,000 barrels of crude oil a day. Yemen itself produces 380,000 barrels a day.

In the North Sea, ConocoPhillips is preparing to evacuate five installations located in its North Sea Ekofisk oil fields if current poor weather conditions deteriorate. The impact on oil output is not yet clear.

Again, for a second day, there have been no press releases by PEMEX concerning the state of oil production in Tabasco, Chiapas, and the Gulf of Mexico - including reports in Spanish in the Mexican press.
It's already over, now it's just a matter of adjusting.

That sounds ominous. I believe the situation in Mexico is deteriorating fast.

Oil hits $97 on bombs, demand forecast

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'O')il prices settled 66 percent higher Tuesday than on Jan. 3, the first trading day of the year. But Tuesday's trading record of $97.10 a barrel is up 95 percent from this year's trading low of $49.90, set Jan. 18.

The official record...for now.

$97.35 in overseas trading. If it doesn't reach $100 tonight, it surely should after tomorrow's inventory report. I've read time and time again that we wouldn't reach $100/barrel or that it would be by the end of 2008 or 2009. Well, it's NOW!

And, in light of oil reaching the $100 dollar mark in the next 24 hours, I make my second ever prediction on oil - the first prediction being that we'll hit $100/barrel in the next 24 hours. I predict that we'll have reached $120/barrel by the end of this year. My third prediction? $200 by the end of 2009.

And while I was typiing this:

And, just so y'all know, this dog is in the hunt for that first $100/barrel post announcement.

$97.40 now. CNN mentioned it could hit $100 as early as tomorrow. This is due apparently to the perception that demand is exceeding supply. I was quite taken aback to hear those words- even if the word 'perception' dilutes the impact.

Regards,

L.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Drifter', 'H')ey, you know what? When we post, it shows the date, time and minute. But not the seconds. I think all of us who post when oil officially hits $100 within the same minute should have a special title given to us. :-D

How about "The Centurians"?
