$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('mos6507', 'E')nough speculation. I started this thread because I was one of the most active posters here and disappearing without a trace was going to leave some people scratching their heads, including some I want to stay in touch with. Don't overanalyze it.

You want to fill this thread up with unmoderated ad-homs, be my guest.

I still lurk, which it seems a great many members do. Not much worth reading. If I want the day's news, I hit up The Oil Drum's Drumbeat. And I find doom bloggers like Sharon Astyk, Greer, and Peak Shrink have much more thoughtful musings about doom than the average peakoil.com member.

If I have something I want to say, I'll stick it on my blog.

Wow you weren't gone very long. So what did you learn in your 3 days of absence?

But can we count how many times its been done? Do you do this at other places, like TOD and the Malthus place? Drama queen exits? Do drama queen exits correlate with snarky re-entrances back to the places you have already drama-queen left?

This is all quite confusing, this type of behavior is very latocian, they have regulars making grand exits, deleting their accounts, and then re-upping within the week proclaiming how good the break was, etc etc. But you have functioning neurons, so you wouldn't naturally fit in over there.

Do you ever consider doing a drama queen exit there? :lol:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('davep', 'T')his is all a bit infantile.

Yep, and it's been almost a year since AAA himself left and then started linking incessantly to his goodbye letter topic again and again, only to return. Seems he's forgotten about that episode and his fateful promise:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '
')"I have decided to take a break from po.com and not return until oil hits $100."

Didn't want to let that important detail to be overlooked.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '
')I have commented on many threads hoping that other po members will realize the problem and start to address it. People are leaving po.com and something needs to stop or else will[sic] will continue to go down hill.

Well guess what? It HAS continued to go downhill. The Heinberg thread is a case in point. I had an opportunity to gather questions from the membership and I got almost no response. Do you think it would have been that apathetic 5 years ago? You all seem more interested in picking lint out of each other's belly buttons than, you know, interfacing with experts. What was perhaps the biggest thread in the last year? A thread dedicated to shorty. Last I checked, there are 6.8 billion people in this world, and the site would like to devote its cumulative effort at trying to convert shorty into a doomer?

And what was going on before that? A thread I started to illustrate policy differences between Obama and Bush where Planty would dump every piece of petty crap he could find in there including a photoshopped image of Obama with the phone wired in reverse.

We're dealing with a topic that includes (depending on your point of view) the likelihood of the death of billions of people and this is the level of debate to be had? And you still wonder why people don't post or leave entirely? If you're still wondering, you'll never get it, just like you'll never realize we actually visited the moon.

I'ld stick around if I were you mos and disregard the attempts at ridicule. We all get pissed off with some of the characters on here and I don't think any reasonable person is going to think less of you because of that. There's for more important stuff to take someone to task for than exasperation, a very human trait.

My opinion anyways, for what it's worth.

Morbid curiosity made me drop by today. I checked out last September (with no one even noticing). I haven't been back to even lurk until this minute. Mos goodbye thread was the first thing I ran into. How ironic. Hi all. I see things haven't changed much. What I notice is the severe lack of wackos and tinfoilers. To bad. We will need many more if we are to successfully transition to the "brave new world" which is coming.

Perhaps I'll check back next September to see if the code of conduct has lightened up any. Bye.

Maybe you have never heard of future contracts. Some of us track more than the near-term contract. The futures hit over $100 several months ago.

every Peak Oil soldier should have one of these kits, before they head out into the world.

this is what WW2 soldiers were given so they'd have something to trade for food, bribes, & transportation if they got shot down.

it was a box with British gold sovereign coins and gold rings.

don't leave home without one ! 8)

"Here are pictures of an actual U.S. Naval Pilot survival kit from WWII. The outer case is a heavy, tire-like rubber that was sealed shut when issued. Approximate size is 3.5 in. by 4 in. Inside it contains three gold rings along with five gold coins: George V British sovereign (upper right), Victoria half-sovereign (upper center), Edward VII half-sovereign, French 20 franc Rooster (lower center), and French 20 franc Rooster (right center)."

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('eastbay', 'E')veryone in my family has dark brown or black hair. No red hair to be found. That is all.

Curiously I don't have red hair or my wife, but the baby does... maybe I should ask that red-headed mailman a question or two...
