A new makes it possible: Augmented Identity

Unread postby Carlhole » Tue 23 Feb 2010, 14:25:36

Image A new app makes it possible to identify people and learn about them just by pointing your phone.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')n application that lets users point a smart phone at a stranger and immediately learn about them premiered last Tuesday at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. Developed by The Astonishing Tribe (TAT), a Swedish mobile software and design firm, the prototype software combines computer vision, cloud computing, facial recognition, social networking, and augmented reality.

I suppose this is OK, as long as I can continue to totally BS people. My meat self would become as vapid as my online avatar. But I shudder to think what kind of world we would live in should VR software one day spider everything that is known about a person, and throw it up on their shirt for god and all the world to see. ... I dunno. Since everybody would be wearing some kind of dis, maybe it would be fun. Who knows.

This will only be considered cool by the Facebook / Myspace crowd. The useless pieces of Expletive deleted. who post their ugly faces on the Internet and put their entire existence on display for everyone to see. Imagine what would happen if someone would point their smart phone at you and the screen came up blank. No reference back to the retarded playgrounds on the Internet. Would you perhaps be regarded as a terrorist? What exactly are you trying to hide?

Especially in this age where a Facebook account with +500 "friends" is a requirement to get employment in some cases.

What's up with SpongeBob sitting on that guy's shoulder?

All this stuff is just plain SAD , and they always have to tag stupid "conceptual" name to it "augmented reality", lol ...

In fact the internet, or the web, is a victiom of this stupid "everything should be free" dogma, because it's quite obvious that there could be great content, on wildlife, art , architecture, anything, and it doesn't exist ...

And since when you would like to share your bookshelf with everybody ?

Creepy. I summed up my thoughts about this type of technology here.
