Will Peak Oil stop "Missionaries"?

:-D
I thought it was funny while I was living in Europe that so many missionary groups from the States would 'set up camp' for a few months or a few years trying to spread the word of god while they're own hometowns (places like Detroit, New Orleans, Memphis, etc.) are breeding grounds of hate, decadence, and 'debauchery.'

Some missionaries from my own hometown (pop. 6,000) spent three months in Weimar, GERMANY! I stopped in to stay with them for some time, and it was plainly obvious that although they had good intentions (for the most part), it was more of a way to condone a vacation.
Being a fan of irony, I helped them find the biggest parties and busiest bars...

So, who knows? In the wake of PO, we're going to see more Christian fundamentalism than we have seen in centuries (forget the Muslims), and although some of the material glamor of 'mission work' will disappear, will have a load of nuts preaching about the end of the world and such. Maybe if travel is too expensive, though, they'll start at home instead of saying, "Oh, I know! Paris is full of sinners! Lets go there, say, around New Years?"
But, crap. I have family in the Czech Republic and can't get them here. WTF do I do about seeing them when the airlines collapse?!

Missionaries to Polynesia once were marinated in coconut milk, and baked in taro leaves in an underground oven (an umu or imu depending on the island). Very yummy, said to taste like pork. Maybe this wonderful tradition will resume. :-D

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Leaf', 'I') read when Hawwii was first to have Christian missionaries they were greeted off the ships by many naked beautiful women..it was early Hawiian custom to make love. These women would always harrass these "missionaries" into sex and many would fall and get kicked off the mission board..
I wonder today how many Americans would do this mission trip? Think now good money, sex with many good looking babes....I wonder how many young guys would volunteer for that?

An island without Cealidhs, lamb and magic mushrooms isn't even worth considering.
There'll be war, there'll be peace
But one day all things shall cease
All the iron turned to rust
All the proud men turned to dust
So all things time will mend
So this song will end
