I think the article makes some good points, but it also seems clear the author believes all of our problems are cultural rather than physical. Undoubtedly culture has a big influence on how things have been playing out, but the limits of our physical world are also vitally important in planning a path of least loss into the future.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Alfred Tennyson', 'W')e are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
