$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'P')op quiz. How long will it take, at 2% annual growth compounded, to turn our 60 trillion dollar world into a 120 trillion dollar world? 35 years.

I heard the "derivatives" bubble is more like 1 and 1/2 quadrillion. The reset is going to happen fairly soon, one way or another. It seems like the recent bailouts were only keeping the monster sedated for now.

I find it sad, that we have our notions of "progress" defined by "endless materialistic growth in resources, money, etc.". There's only so many resources. Materialism is absurd.

For the most part people don't get the nature of compounding growth. At 2% growth in 10,000 years the economy would be larger than the universe. Impossibleism doesn't even begin to describe what the limits are growth are. A steady state economy with zero growth forever is the reality the world must face.

Hahaha. Form what I understand, a large fraction of the US population can't even balance their checkbook. :-)

But in fairness, I think Malthus beat this author to the punch by over 200 years...

Still, nice doomer stuff...
