$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'E')very single time someone takes their eyes or their focus off the road – even for just a few seconds – they put their lives and the lives of others in danger. Distracted driving is unsafe, irresponsible and in a split second, its consequences can be devastating.

Starting yesterday it's no more hand held cell phone use while driving for us. New law. Darn it.

I'll just go back to reading the paper while I drive like i did before cell phones came along.

Oh, is that all.

I was expecting distraction.gov to be bread and circus to distract us from Depression, War and Bailouts.

I wish they would take a different approach. It would be less costly to simply

1) make qualifications to obtain a driver's license much more stringent
2) suspend and revoke drivers licenses for safety infractions
3) consider every fatality as a potential manslaughter charge and make drivers pay for repair of infrastructure and property damaged by their crashes

It is much too easy to get and retain a license to operate a motor vehicle given the cost in property and life that is caused every year by drivers who should not be driving.

The takeaway: drive carefully, or we'll hurt you.
