$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Pretorian', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('gollum', ' ')I'm always happy to pay more for american goods....But tell me does anyone in the USA make tires? clothes? shoes?

How much more are you ready to pay? 20 times more, 30? If so, I ccan come up with a nice business plan. Till then ...

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('gollum', ' ')As for wages, I gues what you're saying is that Americans should be glad to make a dollar a day and move back to the third world?

If nobody wants to pay your more than a buck a day than thats what your labour is worth. Its not like you get to choose.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('gollum', 'C')learly we are overpaid, and the political hacks and banksters are way underpaid?

Did I say that? All of you are way overpaid.

Yes, it is kind of sad, when the wealthy would not only throw everyone else under the bus, but also their children and their children's future under the bus (aka global warming and peak resources). It appears they are no more capable of getting off this path than the average person.

WHEN compared to the average Chinese worker.

It's a sad world these days, when everything and everyone is thought of as an entry in an accounts ledger, and very little else.

We debase & devalue each other, whilst the rich, TPTB are laughing, all the way to the bank. (who also laugh at us - even louder).

Sad, sad world. Shitty 2010, BAU.

Well sure, but it was you and Gollem who employed him in the first place by buying his goods. You want to be paid 30 or 50 times more than that Chinese worker for the same work yet you don't want to pay 30 or 50 times more for British/American made goods. Sorry, it doesnt work that way.

Troll? Just because I am interested to know why your hammering of a piece of a metal makes it 50 times more valuable than when a Chinese does the same thing?

Sorry, I don't "Employ" the chinaman. I am "forced" either to buy his goods, made with slave labour, western goods at a higher price (IF available), or nothing at all.

Like many I look to see (wherever possible) where goods is made. It's then a trade off against country / price / quality.

I'm sure you, Pretorian, do much the same.

Gasmon

Of course I do the same. But I am not the one complaining here am I? And as I said already unless its a pacemaker ( or formula for your kids, hahaha) you arent really forced to buy it. Does Gollem really need a TV set? I dont think so.

Often the only way we can sell customers more expensive U.S. manufactured products is by eating the mark-up, selling them at a loss or by not offering them lower priced imported alternatives.

I'm not talking big bucks either. Many customers will choose cheaper imported parts, or re-use parts if it will save them 5/10 bucks on a service call, 5/10 bucks on a repair or 50 bucks on an installation.

The first call-back, emergency service call or repair often costs them several hundred bucks.
