There is an immense change going on over there right now...

Well, on that I can agree 100% with you.

To be a witness to one nation destroying another nation for no apparent reason is unusual. We've certainly seen the results of that 'immense change' in Iraq. :cry:

No, Bill Clinton and his Secretary of Defense Bill Cohen only did what is right when they attacked Iraq with air strikes after Saddam screwed us like he did. They didn't do it for some alleged god, they did it for the gigantic pile of dead Americans Saddam & his cronies killed & maimed.

We would have never taken Saddam’s decade+ of crap from the Japanese after they surrendered to US. You see, the Japanese were much smarter than Saddam knowing those who surrender don’t get to change the rules of surrender anytime they felt like it, like the wacky Saddam did.

No apparent reason? Ummm, and here Saddam was telling US he got rid of that immense pile of WMD but refused to verify that as per the agreement he made as part of his surrender. He said the air strike by Bill Clinton destroyed all of the records and toooo bad if we didn’t like it.

All the while, Vladimir & Jacques will no longer support US going in to have a look see for ourselves because they were to busy stuffing their own & Saddam’s pockets with dirty oil-for-food money.

Sorry Vladimir, Jacques, & Saddam, but Bill & George didn’t like your attitudes and there ain’t a goddamned thing any of them can do about it except maybe Vladimir & Jacques can send Saddam a batch of homemade muffins to ease his pain in the jail cell he is rotting in while the rest of US try to figure out where those weapons of Saddam’s really are. You yourself better hope they don’t end up in the middle of San Francisco sometime in the near future.

Don’t be fooled by George Bush pandering to the Christians he needed to get into office, he just played them like a fiddle. George is fully aware of what separation of church & state is all about and supports it wholeheartedly. He needed to preach about things like gay marriage to rally the troops knowing the whole time he would never have to deal with such matters on the Executive level.

Other actual radicals like former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore who really was trying to turn this nation into a Bible-Thumper-A-Thon no longer has a job.

I just read in the Tehranian Times that Iran has agreed to ceed authority over to the U.S. Apparently, the Iranian Clergy decided that they want to give us all their money.

Newspapers nationwide are losing subscribers faster than Joan Rivers can chase down the next plastic surgeon and sensationalist headlines that have zero to do with anything are all the rage it seems. That article is just selling newspapers as it really says nothing at all …

The last time I personally bought a newspaper was back in the 20th century. Yeah I know that sounds like a long time ago. :-D

Sometimes I wonder how even internet news makes their money considering how bandwidth, just like paper, also costs money. How about those annoying ads that nobody bothers to click on? News sites today with the pop up ads are starting to look like porno sites from the late 90's. :roll:

BiGG no offence here but you need to get out of the US for awhile and see what's really going on in the world. I grew up in a foreign country and stepping into the US, my view is completely different from the 100% US citizens I work with in the military every day. I only understand why you say the things you do, because I have been around it and so in depth in it for the last couple of years. You really need to step outside the bubble you are in.

Well that just sounds fine and dandy except for a few things: Most europeans before and after WWII were already acclimated to the post-renaissance values of western culture; so it's no wonder that Europe recovered quickly and prosperously after WWII (well.. mostly countries outside the iron curtain, but you get my point).

Meanwhile, most of the Mideast has been in turmoil for decades-- they understand their world in terms of localized ethinic regions and differing theocracies.. so don't be surprised when when they unilaterally fail to suddenly adapt western values-- (especially when the people instilling such values are outsiders to their own country).

Here's an example: If a highly advanced military space alien started landing all over the USA and tried to remake our government into their own image, would it be wrong to resist them?

*Outfit every American city/metropolitian area of consequence with a comprehensive electrified rail based transit system.

*Rebuild and refurbish the freight railways

*Economic assistance for the trucking industry in order to restructure for shorter distance local delivery

*More Solar/Wind/Nuclear plants to suppliment the coal-based power production backbone.

And on and on and on. Christ, what a waste....this could all be used as a crash program for localization but noooooo.....

A needless, pointless flame war has erupted on this thread, and it has now been dealt with.

By and large, we're all intelligent people. Additionally, we have strong opinions that we're emotionally attached to. Vigorous debate can be an effective way to refine our thinking, sharpen our rhetorical skills, and expand our perspectives; however, mere name calling is pointless and counterproductive.

We are performing in front of a growing audience of lurkers, and the the value of our ideas will be evaluated based on what we write here. If we want to win that battle, it would, in my opinion, behoove us to consider what we publish.

Besides, if I can tone down my rhetoric, I'm confident others can too.

I can't imagine a siginifican number of people in this age group signing up. At this age, you've got a family and/or a career. How many spouses are going to say, "Say, what a great idea!"
