$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('shortonsense', 'A')nd when are you going to bet Oily? Are you avoiding him because Internet Editing Scientist doesn't pay well, or because you lost your cajones? :o

Hey, this is a bet to the end of the year 2012. Surely even Internet Editing Scientist can save up $33.33 a year in each of the next 3 years to pay the bet. I might even be nice and let him keep the last penny. :) So, it must be he's lost his cajones.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 'D')enying net-energy analysis on unconventional plays is akin to ignoring evolution or AGW.

The reason this stuff has never been produced (except to willing suckers and clueless hapless investors) is not because the technology has existed. (I mean really. Blow hot water down a drill hole is not rocket science.) No. The stuff has never been produced because people used to be smart. Now they are latching onto any gimmick that might rescue their portfolios.

When the "unconventionals" ramp up year on year and really make some headway, then call me. Until then, I'll keep my money in CD's. Thank you very much.

Except that . . . it's being produced. And unconventional natural gas production already accounts for almost half of US production. A fact I've repeatedly pointed out to you but which you continually ignore and pretend it's still just a little drop in the bucket.

And just think, at one time no one had ever produced petroleum or natural gas at all. I guess that means they were smart back then, knowing the EROEI was too low.

CD's?
Pretty risky don't you think?
I would have thought a guy like you would have a secret bunker in the forest with a big vault set in concrete filled with PM's.

Unless you mean CD's like Michael Bolton and Celine Dion and such?

He considers his compost pile, primarily the result of not knowing where to put the humanure bucket, to be as least as valuable as gold.

Insidious Censorship In Our Oil related information streams?

Of course. How can it be denied?

Ex- What's the life of a typical Shale Gas well. Or, if you
want to stay with oil, who audits Ghawar? And where is that info?

It can't. Thats the problem....the question is, why is it required? Is the truth so difficult to face that these types of lies are better? 8O

The engineers who audit Ghawar are among the best in the world. Of course. The Saudi's can afford them. Certainly they know more about that field than us hobbyists do.
