When I read this, it really irritates me to see the kind of nonsense that passes for journalism these days...

The Economist got it wrong, too. Their peak oil article is subscription-only, but someone summarized it in their blog here:

The Economist did a whole series about oil. Six articles, I think. Some of them are visible to nonsubscribers, but the peak oil one is not.
