I'm all for it

I am a produce manager at a grocery store.I have no degrees at all,but I am a produce specialist.I also have experience with hunting, fishing, growing gardens, and small farming (including raising various poultry and livestock.I am 23 years old married with an eight month old little girl.As a boy my favorite book was "MY SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN". I personally am excited to return to a more simple life intead of working 40+ hours a week to survive in a system thats flawed and failing.I believe that the rat race we have created is rediculous and instead of enjoying life and truly appreciating what a gift this planet is and just taking a minute to take it all in. Instead we rush by to work to make more imaginary money to pay our bills that just keep getting higher and to consume whatever flashy new gidget or gadget our minds desire. In a well formed government or community,Prices of goods and services should get cheaper not more expensive. We have alot of fear and alot of greed. The doctor fears he is not making enough to support his family so he raises his fees then the lawyer fears that because the doctor raised his fees he won't have enough cash either, this starts a pattern that works itself into the price of everything and basically I want out and I'm not counting on riches I'm counting on a collapse Sad ,but true

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('jupiter422', 'A')s a boy my favorite book was "MY SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN".

As a young girl, it was my favorite book as well! Though I'm glad I didn't run off to the wild, I would have died pretty fast I think...

I'm sorry you feel you have to wait for the collapse to have the life you want. I'm working on the life I want, collapse or no. I think if you look around, you could figure out how to get that life you want, and not have to wait for the collapse.

Wonder if they have any Dodos in Cuba?

I agree with Ludi, don't wait until everything falls apart (it may not) to live the life you want. Make every day count towards living your dream, you'll get there sooner than you think.

I headed for the woods 30 years ago to try to live sustainably and escape the consumer culture and I haven't regretted 1 second of it.

I may have seemed a little negative ,but i was just trying to express my frustration with the world today. You see I grew up in a small town in michigan of about 1100 people .I lived there until I was 19 ,When i was 19 i moved to escondido ca, 40 minutes from san diego. i met my wife she is from alaska.we got married and had our baby and now we want to get out of southern ca,we dream of buying a house in fairbanks ak. and having a big garden in the summer when there is almost 24 hours of light and raising our daughter and just enjoying the last frontier as a happy little family.so you see i am making the best of things ,but i am just really frustrated that the world and system we have created has gotten to this point.
