I used to be a grammar nazi when I was younger, but life's too short (apart from "I could care less" - offenders should be wheeled out and shot).

Highlander, I thought it was all somewhat tongue in cheek, but if not just ignore it anyway. There's no point leaving over something so trivial, IMO.

Yea. Encourage him to grow a thicker skin, especially when someone tells him the discussion wasn't directed at him personally.

And incidentally highlander1 NO, I didn't split the thread. I never moderate discussions in which I'm taking part.

To be more precise Highlander1 doesn't suffer so much from poor grammar as he does from malapropisms.

Here's another example from his posting:

"So you probably parsed this thread out of the original one in order to continue your pompous, useless dribble."

The proper word to use in this sentence is drivel as in twaddle, not dribble, though TW might indeed dribble but that cannot be verified by his writing.

Well I have received a lot of supportive PMs from long time PO members verifying my assumptions about a few of you on this thread. There seem to be some good folks out there that want to share ideas and not just look at ways to break people down.

Obviously guys like TWilliam and DomuAlbion are the minority. So hopefully I can stick around and contribute to meaningful discussions on here. There is a lot of good info here. We are facing some really uncertain times.

And maybe guys like these will use their obviously superior intelligence to get engaged in the real topics and help people share ideas. Nuff said (oops).

Get over yourself. If you can't take some friendly critiquing then you're in trouble.

One should always strive to be better and correct one's mistakes and accept correction graceously.

No one is calling you names or deliberately picking on you.

Aw, we're just honing our nit-picking skills. Can we be blamed if Highlander1 is just not up to matching our repartee? Finding out now will save him a lot of future pain. :)

I don't and I hardly went there except for the famous "Shut Yer Traps" thread.

There was some classic jocularity in that one.

TWilliams was criticizing his grammar but I was actually correcting TW by pointing out what's his name's fault was not grammar so much as it was inappropriate use of words.

I feel that our language is a precious possession and should be guarded assidously.

I have heard that my Grand Children are not being taught cursive writing at all, straight from printing to keyboard.... My Grandson cant read cursive, but he types so fast he can type dictation.

Yes that was the only one I enjoyed reading on that board, even tried my hand a few times but my humor wasn't biting enough to be up to the high standards there.
