Love how the internet has a habit of devolving any debate down to things like evolution, abortion, and evil handguns.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Sixstrings', 'N')ow for you Creationists out there.. how do you account for these other species of human?

You'd have to define Creationist more closely to get a real answer, as I suspect that you specifically would propose a definition that would make answering the stated question impossible.

Personally, I believe God created man, thus could be stated to be a "Creationist". I find no restrictions on the biochemical method by which God might have chosen to create homo sapiens. The creation stories one might site in Genesis teach the basic lesson that God created the universe, and he did it out of nothing (sounds like Big Bang to me). And considering that the time sequencing of the two accounts is contradictory, it is reasonable to assert that no scientifically measurable amount of time or order is implied by the stories.

Thus, evolution, as proposed by modern biology causes me no discomfort what so ever, and natural selection seems like a perfectly reasonable explanation of how things work.

I don't see why some find it so uncomfortable to hear one say, "Evolution with natural selection is the means by which God created man." Faith tells me WHO, Science tells me HOW.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'B')ut again, what's the Bible tell you about all this? What, does the Bible say that neanderthals were not intelligent, and were just another animal on Noah's ark?

All the Bible has to say with regard to the physical problem you propose is that God created the universe, and he did it out of nothing. Passed that, fill in the blanks as you see fit.

Of course, I guess I'm lucky in these debates, being Catholic and reasonably well educated, I am content with the meaning and limitations of the Imprimitur; that the Bible is innerrant, WITH REGARD TO FAITH AND MORALS. Whether Neanderthal's were smart or not is not an issue covered in any way by the sacred texts.

If it's natural, how is it selected?
Darwin's theory of evolution is so full of holes, yet the seegullibles buy into it line, hook and sinker bc they don't understand the mysteries with 'the tree of life'.

Give it a rest, VM. You're not addressing what people say, and just replying with BS. Go and take a lie-down.

I'd rather cling to god and guns than the personality of a politician.

Immortality is alreay here and has been since the begining. Not in this life, but in the afterlife, an it's a way better 'place' than this World. :)

Amounts of flamboyant ignorance in USA, especially bible-based, are startling at best for a foreigner. I mean I've seen people who didnt like the idea of humans being apes but, well, they just dont like apes , most of them probably wouldn't have a problem with humans descending from tigers or even dogs :)

In the cockpit of an inter-galactic cruise ship which picks you up when you die here. Must be nice.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 'A')gentR, politicians are mostly just people as are we all.

Indeed, which is why they are unworthy of being "clung too" or worshiped as many in this country seem to do.

Trust me, we're even more backward than you think. The United States is home to the world's only "Earth is only 3,000 years old" museum. They actually bus schoolchildren to this museum.. it's beyond travesty.

Here's a pic of one of their exhibits:

Ok Vision.. so your rebuttal to the scientific graph I posted is to juxtapose it with some crazy out-of-this-world pic that looks like the Holy Trinity meets LSD? Uh, ok. Well anyway, thanks for posting it.. that's some far-out stuff, man. ;)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('AgentR', 'P')ersonally, I believe God created man, thus could be stated to be a "Creationist". Amen, Brother Agent, we're on the same page here.

My question wasn't intended for reasonable people of faith like yourself, but more for the "Creation Museum" crowd. Why couldn't they just make a Jesus Museum, for christ's sake? (no pun intended) I mean really.. I'd find that useful, a museum dedicated the life and ministry of Christ. Was that not sexy enough, so they had to go and drag religion into science?

Bottom line here is that religion and science are two fundamentally different, and yet equally necessary, fields of of human understanding. They cannot ever be mixed, but I will admit that we need them both. And besides, if you're a Christian you should be spending your religious energies paying attention to his actual ministry, NOT engaging in anti-science jihads.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')n another thread, Smallpox Girl wrote something to the effect of "if something hasn't been cured by now, it isn't going to be," and essentially made the point we just need to accept death.

Had she been alive 100 or 500 years ago she'd be saying the same thing.

I think Ray K. is a bit extreme (& naive about the implications of his predictions even if they were to come true) but he annoys me less than the "nothing will improve your life ever, just get ready to die" crowd.
