I agree.

You see similar sights at abandoned homesteads in northern Canada.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ludi', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ibon', 'L')udi, I'll keep my eye open next time to see if there are any decomposing airplanes!
So you flew there? Good to know. Now I know when you use the word "hypocracy" in a thread discussing human footprint, I'll know you're talking about yourself. :|
"Green tourism" has got to be the height of hypocrisy. Sierra Club sends me these glossy magazines full of fancy trips to endangered places. I can't help but look underneath the pretty pictures at the paper underneath and think to myself 'that was a forest' and 'there was supposed to be chickadee nest there.'

The New York Times logs 100 acres of tree every Sunday.

there are shades of green. the invitation could be a .pdf or banana/coffee paper and the fly could be in a cruiser (boat) that uses just air and eletricity. (i have drafts for this boat btw).

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('dunewalker', 'A')greed. I'd say it qualifies as an oxymoron, except for backpacking. But Ibon has etched new images into our consciousness, of how much of the world will look within our lifetimes, possibly adding motivation to our efforts to prep, at least emotionally and psychologically.
People convince themselves that traveling is educational and good for society, when I think it is running away. You get that endorphin rush leaving. From the kids? The neighbors?

I guess I was lucky and got it out of my system early. Folks sent me on a thirteen-county, six-week YMCA teen tour to Europe when I was fifteen. Learned to hate suburban sprawl at a very early age. Been trying to fix it ever since.

said that in the grave of Cristofolo Colombo, Amerigo Vespuci and the Vikings (that came first).

Maybe stonehenge but the last time I saw the sphynx, it was looking kind of beat up.
Still, it was doing better than that jeep. :-D
