Kiddie, you must know my cousins in Carter County, Kentucky? Everything is a Coke there?

(They also speak with a question mark at the end of every sentence?)

Here, most everyone says coke for every soft drink. ('You want a coke? Sure. What kind?") :)
My formative years were spent near St. Louis, MO - and I say soda most of the time.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Raphael', 'A')ll these posts here about pop, soda, coke, jew, muslim, christian etc. etc.

Shows how even with the simplest representations of our shared reality, we still cannot come to a concensus.

Now I see here on PO we have many intellectuals, some very bright people, some great 'number' crunchers.
But I also see amongst them many assholes and the only reason I can say that with certainty, is because they have their collective heads, buried in the sand.

As you've pointed out though, its all a matter of perspective. Even in who would be considered the asshole with their head in the sand.

So the assholes have their heads in the sand because they don't know what to properly call pop or soda? Otherwise why is this comment being made here?

its all just carbonated sugar water no matter what you call it, and the 'healthy' juice alternative is un-carbonated sugar water. No matter which way you slice it drinking the stuff is not a good idea for an average human, our sugar consumption and our diabetes rates are rising in tandem.

Does anyone out there know where i can get me some L&P? I know. It's carbonated sugar water, but it's also really good stuff. If sodas, colas, pops, soft drinks, or even the un-colas are all killers, L&P isn't a bad way to go. I want me some.

A little off topic...

When my pancreas went AWOL I gave up my favorite carbonated beverage and took up sugar free soda pop. I was eventually drinking gallons of the stuff, it was ridiculous. Lately I bought a Soda Stream and I can't recommend it enough for CO2 addicts. I never tap drank water before, now I drink a liter or more of carbonated tap water a day. This has been great since low carb and higher protein really gives me the muscle cramps without lots of water.

I don't use the flavor syrup or anything else and find I have much less of the cravings that used to send me to the kitchen every 20 minutes. I'm convinced that the artificial sweeteners make my mind think I'm actually consuming sugar so make me want more and more.

Interesting the things you discover when you are forced into manual override mode, LOL.

I have always wondered about those things, how much does it cost to keep buying the CO2? Or can they use regular air?

The label say up to 60 liters on a cartridge and I think they are $20 each. I'm sure I've made that many, of course with kids trying to make water rockets it would be less, lol.

Have you tried carbonating iced tea or other normally flat beverages? I love strong black ice tea but I really miss Pepsi-Cola. Maybe if I had carbonated tea it would help the craving. How does it carbonate the beverage? I have heard advertising on the radio pushing hose machines as Christmas presents but you are the first person I know ho has one.

It's pretty cool and as far as drinking less soda, I may have one or two now where I was drinking a half a dozen easily before and as I say I don't have that wanting to graze feeling all the time, which is great.

It's a counter top unit about as big as a can opener but taller and it looks acceptable to leave out. You stick a special plastic bottle in as if you were placing the cup in a milkshake maker? A tube goes into the water a ways and you push the bottle in until it seals, then push down on the top of the unit to trigger the gas. there are some cute little lights that light up to tell you the level of fizz you've reached. It takes less than a minute.

Sparkling tea might be cool I hadn't thought of that, you could use anything really. Here's the site
