Civil Unrest seems to be a long standing feature of life under Communism in China. This article from 2004 claims 58,000 cases of civil strife in one year. This before the Financial Crisis. From our 'overshoot' perspective it's interesting to note the Uighurs are allowed an exception to Chinas one child policy. They can crank out as many children as they like without penalty or social isolation.
They receive affirmative action benefits in job placement and in school admissions. Yet they still whine and moan crying for more and more plus international sympathy. And the media complies.

This makes me think that we need to find alternative crops. Something that can survive well in the new environment. If we can't find them, then maybe we should make them.
Of course the genetic engineering that would be done would need to be done by government forces and without any terminator seeds, and the seeds would need to be available to everyone to start planting. Otherwise super large corporations would end up completely controlling the worlds food supply.

There are 46800 references here at Google to the Genocide of the Chinese under Communist Chinese Rule. The Communists around the world should really start owniong up to the fact that Communism in all its forms is alway lethal for the poor citizens of any country that are forced to live under its jurisdiction. This doesn't cover the millions under Stalin and Russina Communis, or the millions under Cambodia's experiments or the millions under National Socialism in Germany.
