The sneezing poll on the other section reminded me to ask all of you a question about sneezing-related issue that has been bugging me for years.

I've always been a big sneezer. I sneeze all the time and it's a rare day that goes by without at least one sneezing fit. I suspect it's brought on by something in the air, but I don't know for sure what it could be.

Anyhow, many years ago I discovered that my sneezes always come in odd numbers. It's always (and I do mean ALWAYS!!) 3, 5, 7, or 9 sneezes. It's never one at a time or an even number of sneezes... and rarely more than 9 in a row. I've pointed this out to co-workers, friends and family members and it's now something of a running, or shall I say 'counting', joke. I'll start a sneezing fit and often someone will count out the sneezes for me. Afterwards I have to listen to cute editorial comments about the condition, and it's all in fun, of course.

Does any one else here sneeze in this manner?? Is there a name for this? And no, I'm not kidding about this either.

Weird. If I sneeze at all (Which is rare) its usually only 1.
Well, I guess 1 is an odd number......

It was always two for me, until sometime in the last ten years or so when I started to sneeze three times, on occasion.

When I sneeze than it is usually a full-blown sneeze attack. Nonstop for ten minutes or so.

I have a friend who does that. I started the running/ counting gag with her when we were teenagers. They aren't huge sneezes (like mine that feel like they are going to blow my head off) but they have always been odd numbers (the record being 21) and small continuous sneezes with no breaks.

I ran into my niece yesterday and while talking to her she began sneezing. I mean really making some wild noise. I happened to notice she sneezed 7 times. I mentioned to her that I had counted 7, and told her I always sneeze in odd numbers. She told me she does too!

She's the first person I know who does this, besides me. This odd numbered sneezing might be a genetic thing. Like everything else.
