The world is slowly running out of oil and food will be getting really, really costly as the economy deteriorates step-by-step in little 'L' shaped moves.

The question isn't 'what has JPL heard', it's congratulations for acting upon what we've ALL heard.

This seems the right place to reproduce this tinfoil rumour:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '')Some US embassies worldwide are being advised to purchase massive amounts of local currencies; enough to last them a year. Some embassies are being sent enormous amounts of US cash to purchase currencies from those govts, quietly. But not £’s. Inside the State Dept there is a sense of sadness & foreboding that ‘something’ is about to happen, unknown re a date—just that within 180 days, but could be 120-150 days.”

Bob quotes another source that “Panasonic has told their people to be back in Japan by Sept 09.”

Harry Schultz, dean of newsletter writers, has quoted the Chapman letter of May 30 regarding US embassies being sent large amounts of cash with which to buy local *currencies, to last them a year. Here is Harry’s remarkable take on the situation:

“My HSL suspicion is that the elite plan another FDR style “bank holiday” of indefinite length, perhaps very soon, to let the insiders sort-out the bank mess which is getting more out of their control every day.*Insiders want/need to impose new bank rules. Widespread nationalization could result, already under way. It could also lead to a formal US$ devaluation, as FDR did by revaluing gold (& then confiscating it). But devalue against what? The euro? Doubtful. Gold? Maybe. Or vs. the IMF basket of currencies (which seems more likely)—& much in the news recently. Any kind of bank holiday will push the US$ lower, which may be a bonus benefit to their ongoing scenario of letting the $ fall. Such a fall would get the devaluation they want without having to declare it. In sum, the insiders want more bank & system control, fewer banks & a lower US$. A bank holiday would suit all their needs.

Obviously, U can’t open safeboxes if the banks are closed, so plan accordingly. All this is speculation, but we have to go with what we’ve got, scraps of info that point to certain possibilities. In any case such a closure will, IMO, come sooner or later, as the worst of the embedded derivatives are still to be faced. We are years away from solving them because the controllers don’t want to; their fingerprints are all over them. ***

PS: during the FDR bank holiday, thousands of banks never reopened; it was a face-saving way of shutting them down. I would guess the same would occur today; thousands have little or no net value, loaded with debt, bad mortgages.

••• *PPS: A Bob Chapman subscriber reported overhearing 2 FEMA jacketed men talking to a police chief in Calif. They wanted to federalize the police across the US. They (govt) would be closing banks in late Aug, early Sept & that it will get ugly.” Prepare for worst case, as any good Boy or Girl Scout would do. J”

Well good luck. My family comes originally from Brighton, I know a bit about that area, so It's safe to assume you're not bugging out there.
With almost 70 million souls, honestly the only two locations that would get my attention as a place to bug out to, would be: The Orkney's or The Shetlands.
Then again there are parts of western Scotland that are possible. The Hebrides?
Without spilling the beans, I'd be curious about the general area you're heading to...I'm from Canada, we've got lots of room here, so any Englishman and family are always welcome here. :)
Good luck, and cheers mate.
Forlorn Hope

Oi ain't saying (sorry). Look. What I've found myself is not a particular place but a particular area which looks good. Basically I'm going to travel around there and try and find work (anything) and accommodation (anything with land). There isn't much of either so this is a long shot. I may have to do this journey several times.

That's the plan. - not a very good one but the best I can come up with. I'm off tomorrow morning. Will try & keep everyone posted.

Thanks for all the supportive replies!!!

I become more convinced day by day, year by year, that there will be no catastrophic event that is going to bring down the system in one month, let alone one week or Gawd forbid one day. The collapse will be televised. But it's going to happen in such slow motion that most people are not even going to realize they're being slowly boiled alive, hell, it's happening right now with nary a peep from the great unwashed.

Take your time, slow down, find a quaint, quiet little place you can grow a garden and some chickens and you should survive.

While I'm not convinced we won't experience some form of catastrophic collapse I do believe that we are NOW being slowly boiled alive. Not by them, but by our own collective denial. Statistics win. Statistics say on average people are pretty average, and the Average Joe just don't get it.

Re: Bugging Out

Postby JPL » Tue 07 Jul 2009, 17:52:10

Hi all, am now back from bug-out run, went pretty well, what a relief to have a decent keyboard back again!

One of the things I'd got down as 'essential equipment' was the mobile with web connection, except it went out of range after a couple of days. What I hadn't really sussed out was that the GPS was also dependent on a signal, what a waste of time.

I also had to loose the mountain bike & half the kit as well - an interesting lesson. But I managed to proceed on foot and got to cover most of the 'target area' so it was OK in the end. I've contacted some potential employers (the main aim of the trip) and have one positive lead which I can chase up.

So all pretty good. Also the wilderness work was excellent fun and a real moral-booster (I haven't done anything like that for 20 years). A good break from the normal & I'm now sufficiently confident I can repeat the exercise with the family in tow at fairly short notice. So we're looking good....

Now I bet you all want to see the photos.... I've got to resize then & stuff, will post in a day or two.
