For the heck of it I joined today. I joined because most of my closer friends have moved far far away, as have I... If I want to find them that's the easiest place to look. I have an uncommon name, but I'm not listed for much of anything. Between classmates and facebook I've already contacted 5 people in one day. It could be more, but they want to call, IM and email right away, so that's enough for one day.

I found an old buddy today on facebook! We were best pals during the 80's and after I moved we drifted apart and it's been 15 years since we last spoke. Now we're hooked up again. Really neat!

Same for us. My husband has family all over the world and mine is spread over the country. It's pretty neat finding out info and seeing pictures from family that you don't get to see often. My husbands nephew went back to Iraq to get married a couple weeks ago, and they were married today. So, I'm waiting on pictures from his sister. :)

Twitter

Now i am sure most of you must have heard of 'twitter' by now. Over here the media is really hyping it. I mean, almost every day they are raving on about it. Especially the Iran thing, it's as if people blogging on twitter, can change the world, as now the information is so freely available, and now governments will have to act different.

Gordon Brown even went as far as to say this about twitter ..
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '&')quot;People have now got the ability to speak to each other across continents, to join with each other in communities that are not based simply on territory, streets, but networks; and you have got the possibility of people building alliances right across the world." This, he said, has huge implications.

"That flow of information means that foreign policy can never be the same again.

"You cannot have Rwanda again because information would come out far more quickly about what is actually going on and the public opinion would grow to the point where action would need to be taken."

Now blogging isn't anything new. I mean since the internet began the average user has been able to spew his shit all over the place, on forums, their own webpages, geocities etc. And it's not like internet chat is new either, i mean IRC and MSN etc have been around forever. Plus there is facebook, myspace, a load of other social networks. So, what the fuck is going on here ? Why would the media be hyping this. Why would they want us to start .. twittering, and 'micro blogging' erg, about every aspect of our lives ? It's as if, instead of big brother spying on us, and finding out about our lives from telephone taps or whatever. It's as if we are just gently being encouraged to fill out every aspect of our lives on twitter (big brothers new database). This information is just freely available, anyone can get a hold of it. Do we really want all that information about ourselves in the public domain ? Targeted advertising wet dream ?

I for one will be glad to see twitter just die already and the media STFU about it.

35-40 million people die every year due to starvation alone. Barely a peep is made about it. If only they had Twitter accounts...

The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities.

The Revolution might not be Televised but it shall be Twittered. Oh, please. Email is more than enough, cell phones are on overkill. I am seeing more and more drivers texting at the wheel.
I miss letters and alert drivers.
I recently went back to a Trim line (Harvest Gold) phone for my land line calls (Since I'm willing to talk on my land line-and not so much on my cell). I did this because I was tired of the portable phone needing to be replaced every couple of years.
I think the Harvest Gold Trim Line phone was Peak Quality Communication.
Me Twitter? Never.
