Mr. Medvedev hailed the Urals city of Yekaterinburg as "the epicentre of world politics" as he said the need for major developing world nations to meet in new formats was "obvious."

Apparently the US asked for observer status and was denied. It seems to be developing as a counter to NATO and as a new Financial World Centre.

Notice how the US is trying to get military presence in the Pivot Area, and how Russia, India & China as an alliance would basically rule Eurasia (and hence the world)

yep, a different set of paper is going to save them. 
the underlying fundamental, i.e., decreasing EROI, won't change even if the currency does.

Where there any real results in Jekaterinburg?
The meeting was not even mentioned in "der Spiegel", which is one of the leading newspapers in Germany.
Don't they want to inform or do they think that this meeting is nothing important.
I actually think that there is a long way until these countries really work together, How much oil will be really traded in rubel in the following month? On the long run, if there is a future to something as a world trade at all then yes the center will be in Eurasia, but more in Asia.

Maybe Almaty or Tashkent would be better choices... large cities now population & economically & along the historical Silk Road symbolically.
