$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Cloud9', 'I')n any great conflict, there is risk of becoming what you hate. What irony, the rich capitalists of the late 19th century sent their offspring to the colleges of the north east to get a liberal education. The October Revolution had just occurred. Marx became the darling of the liberals. The seeds of communism were sown in those young minds in the first quarter of the twentieth century. Those seeds germinated during the Great Depression.
Now in the first decade of the twenty-first century we are going to witness the full flowering of socialism in America.
Communism is very appealing to the very bright and the very young. What a marvelous idea that all will contribute according to their ability and receive according to their need. No one will go hungry. All will have a place to live. In this great paradise, all will be equal.
Too bad that this utopia is based on a great lie: None of us are equal! We are all very unequal individuals. The Soviet Union collapsed because communism succeeded. Almost everyone became equally dispossessed. The only thing that survived this madness was the most sinister of the Soviet bureaucracies, the KGB.
Those that are setting us on this course are intent on damning us all to a Procrustean hell. As in Russia, the utopian dream will devolve into a dystopia.
Philosophies based on establishing some utopia will always fail because they don't take into account the fact that human nature is bad. You have to take into account where you are and what material you are working with. We're in the real world (not heaven) and we're working with humans.
If you are on the beach and working with sand and you build a castle, don't be surprised when it collapses.
An ideology is by definition not a search for TRUTH-but a search for PROOF that its point of view is right
Equals barter and negotiate-people with power just take
You cant defend freedom by eliminating it-unknown
Our elected reps should wear sponsor patches on their suits so we know who they represent-like Nascar-Roy
