There was peanut butter on my sheets the other morning which was funny as I never eat peanut butter.

Oh, maybe it has something to do with the curry and 5 pints of guinness I consumed before going to bed.

Mr. Logic wants to know:

If there was toxic peanut butter two years ago why are the deaths recent? Was 100% of the peanut butter purchased two years ago put in storage until recently?

Warehouse storage sounds plausible. Or, institutions used products they had bought with no regard to expiration dates; or, there are a lot more people hoarding food that we suspect, and they didn't rotate their stock properly.
I read or heard in the past few years that the US military was starting to replace MREs that had been in storage since WWII.
