You are right, this website is all about opinion and debate. Which makes me wonder - why, if I post an article saying "gas hydrates in the GOM could be a promising future energy source," or, "A new discovery in Mexican waters will produce 250K bpd by 2015," I am attacked as if I were Satan incarnate.


Your mischaracterization of an argument into some form of an attack is an interesting observation OF. Calm down a bit. Debate and arguments dont have to degenrate. if you let them you risk losing the gist of your message. You need to thicken up your skin a bit or you wont enjoy the banter here my boy!

Look, we disagree, Its obvious, but when those who disagree with you put up credible arguments, dont just start slinging the mud. Come up with something formidable in the form of facts, numbers, concrete evidence etc. So far I have not seen that from you. I have what i consider to be a good ability to weigh both sides of an issue. On this one your not being convincing.

I will "attack" you or anyone else who attacks and ridicules me for posting articles stating, "New Mexican oil field to produce 250K bpd by 2015" or "GOM gas hydrates could be a promising new energy source." And the reason why I will attack back at those who attack my posting of such articles is because such attacks on those articles are 100% hypocritical. Plain and simple. If I cannot make projections about the future just as you and everyone else here does, then those who tell me I cannot make such projections get from me what they deserve.

Ah, I see. Well then, it's still confusing. A more understandable way to write it might be:

Or:

Placing the "When" at the beginning of a new sentence makes it seem like a whole new thought, and the "When installed" as a predicate at the beginning of the sentence. If you more clearly attach the "When installed nuclear . . ." to the first 2 sentences with either a dash or a colon the meaning of the "installed" will become more clear.

You seem to equate preparation with suicide? :?

If a guy is taking drastic actions to prepare for what he thinks is an imminent attack by aliens, you're telling me I have no right to give him advice and tell him his alien invasion is not going to arrive, if he does not want such advice.

I suppose I could continue to let him live in his folly, but when his alien attack does not arrive, he will be all the more shocked and disappointed as he would have been if I had given him advice and evidence he was mistaken in his beliefs. As I said, I'm doing him a favor, though he won't realise it until after the fact.
