Grumpy people smarter

or are happy people just dumber?

Grumpy people preform better on testing

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'P')sychologists have discovered that people performed better in memory tests when the weather was bad and they were feeling grumpy.

The research discovered that the worse the weather and the more depressed the individual, the sharper their brain.

The findings were made by the University of New South Wales School of Psychology. The team carried out the study by questioning shoppers at a Sydney store over two months.

They tested their memory and found that they recalled three times as much information when the weather was bad and they were feeling down.

I don't really consider memory and recall of information a singularly good measure of intelligence.

No but it helps you be happy if you can forget certain facts about the world around you.

Certainly explains the prevalence of tech nerds in Seattle.

Of a thousand burning bridges
Sifting through the ashes every day
What we thought would never end
Now is nothing more than a memory
The way things were before
I lost my way" - OCMS

This little factoid simply hammers it home. We are surrounded by
genius here on www.peakoil.com. I hoist my frosty mug of prune
juice skyward and salute all of my dear colleagues here on the
forum.

And now my official statement:

No sh*t Sherlock, tell me something I don't already know,
and wipe that goofy grin off your kisser. So what are you
doin' for an encore, the Barney song?

Yea, what dumbass said. :x
The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities.

We're grumpy because our IQ's are probably 20-60 higher than the average potato out there and it's already been scientifically proven that people with IQ's at least 20 point apart don't get along that well. Our intelligence levels are in the minority.

Stupidity being a majority always wins.

It's simple.

When the weather is gloomy, it's easier to focus on academic tasks.

When the weather is fair, one's mind turns to fun in the sun and all manner of frivolity. :P

See, that's what I told my doctor, some of us can't help but be grumpier than the average moron, no matter how much I go jogging and do uplifting stuff when a light bulb burns out there are times when I really would rather sit in the dark and bitch about it. (besides its harder to see the stars with those damned things on all the time.)

Not everyone is supposed to be a happy go lucky polyanna.

It's common knowledge.

Plus, people with higher IQ's don't breed as much so the world just keeps getting happier and happier. In fact, the pace at which people with lower IQ's are breeding we're definitely on a mass genetic collision course with the happiest of them all: Giggle Happy Cro Mags.
