$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('MJ', 'I') was wondering, at which point people here (who are aware) would be convinced we'd hit the peak....
When "soccer moms" drive their kids to the game in a hybrid car the size of a 1989 honda civic hatchback. :-D
Take a close look at the size of this car. A 2005 honda "hatchback" today would probably be the same size as a honda sedan back in 1989. You won't see to many cars on the road today that's this size but once PO hits they'll be coming back into style.

So, do you think that a draft is a real possibility then? Forgive me I'm British and so whenever the mention of 'draft' comes up, I think of the whole Vietnam thing, and the Doors and Woodstock and Sgt Pepper etc etc

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I') regard Peak Oil and demand exceeding supply as two very different things. I think it should be clear that we're not at peak today since production is still increasing, February production was reported somewhere as 83.4 million barrels per day, highest ever.

Pedantically I disagree. Yes Peak Oil production may mean that but I see peak oil as very simply when we are using more than we are supplying to the market............and I think that is how the majority of people see peak oil, maybe not on here, but certainly out there. Production declines just adds to the woes so to speak.

Yeah reggie thats true, since there's a limit as to how many pipelines, tankers, rigs, refineries etc can be built at once. Its not just production and discovery thats at peak, the carrying and transportation is at peak as well.

In other words, the speed of the world's economy is moving beyond our means to sustain it. This would be true at some point anyway irrespective of the production and discovery situation.

Its just all mad
