Read the book.
One of these now am I too, a fugitive from the gods and a wanderer, at the mercy of raging Strife.

It was great. Absolutely great.

I'd see it again in a heartbeat.

i thought it was entertaining as well, good director and cinematography but i've grown tired of the whole genre comic book trend for what, the past five years now? I never thought much of it at first (was more into goosebumps books growing up anyway) but its interesting how these things can take off... could reflect a shift in the cultural tide, or maybe people just ran out of movie ideas and lookin for easy money, anything really, even a reflection of politics, but i think its time to make some real movies, T4 looks good!

By the final confrontation scene, it struck me that it portrayed the Illuminists' world view. I think the mechanics of how Illuminism was practiced in the 1900s were fairly well represented too.

It was ok. Could have done with a little less blue shlong of death in my opinion. I didn't see the point in showing off his tool so much.

I was horribly dissipointed, I had no idea what the movie was about until I saw it and the lesson delivered in letters ten feet tall was $this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he Ends Justify The Means, so what if you have to kill a few hundred million to 'save' humanity, oh and kill some of your own side too because they try and stop you!
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Alfred Tennyson', 'W')e are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

More or less. If some must be sacrificed for the overall plan, then so be it.

at the end of watchmen, i thought it was kind of interesting how all the rebuilding projects had Veidt all over it, so even if that guy did a good job of unifying the world and stopping a nuclear holocaust, he got rich in the process

they should come out with an illuminati movie, akin to the good shepherd

Exactly, even if the ends did justify the means, which they never do, his actual ends were security and additional wealth for himself not the betterment of all mankind as he was posturing it to be.

Dr. Manhatten had lots of options in the movie, and yet almost every time he either chose not to act at all, or to act by squashing whatever person was opposing him. Notable examples, he did nothing when the Comic killed the pregnant woman in Viet Nam, he accepted the premise that Veidt was doing what was best for humanity. Worst of all he slaughtered Viet Namese soldiers fighting against the USA and Rorchak when he could have disarmed them or put them somewhere that they could not cause trouble from. AT the very least with his powers he could have disarmed and attempted to convince them not to fight him because they could not win against him. Instead he took the most brutal course of action. With his power to move things he could take all the weapons and ammunition and even put the bad guys directly into POW camps in the USA. For Rorshak he could have put him in the Mars dome where he was talking to his soon to be ex wife where he would have been safe but unable to communicate what he knew, instead he literally turned him inside out and splattered his remains all over the snow.

Exactly. Manufacture a crisis in which others must be sacrificed, but which gets you closer to accomplishing your goals, and also makes you money in the process. Brilliant.

Also note that there were the CEOs (Iaccoca, "captains of industry", etc). But then there was a level above the CEOs, when Ozymandius threatened them for their cooperation with his Illumanist goals and explained he could buy them three times over.

I thought it was a megaturkey. It was like a sci-fi soap opera. They should have someone who has nothing to do with the movie watch it and tell them that the plot is lagging. It could have been a 2 hour movie with a little editing.
Deep in the mud and slime of things, even there, something sings.

All I can say is a lot of your questions are addressed in the book.

No, "question authority" is the message. That's the point of "who watches the watchmen?"

...just read the graphic novel.
