l...i don't have a time machine (yet) and i still have one good hand.

One side of our house is shaded and is all ice...my son took off on me into the neighbors yard... i chased him down, and decided the shortest route to the front door was across that ice.

Many, many broken bones... Couple decades of being a serious martial artist.

Worst to date was a simple fall from a ladder. Spiral-compound fractures in both shins... crushed ankles.

Year in a wheelchair... learn to walk, all that jazz.

I feel your pain my friend.

Heal well.
The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

A friend of mine fall from the tree and broke his backbone when he was 12 or so, and his 3 yo sister fell out of the window on the third floor. All that in one day. But they got well pretty fast.

Breaks and other serious injuries are a serious drag.

Time and rest boss ... the doctor won't say this, but drink lots of water. A bit more than usual to help the complete body kick in and work on this. Lousy food will slow the healing.

Speaking of silly personal injuries, I slammed my right thumb in a car door a week ago ( yup, did it myself.. all alone) and may lose the nail dag nab it. Lost my right big toe nail jogging a half M 10 years ago so I know the drill. Grew back fine.

Do you know what bone is broken? Sounds like a typical FOOSH (Fall On Out Stretched Hand) leading to a Colle's Fracture.

Usually they heal fairly well, though they do sometimes require a plate to return normal alignment.

Spg-

That sounds right... I had my son in my left arm and once the feet went out the only thought was making sure he didn't hit the ice... put out my right hand to fall on to and snap...

My left wrist isn't even straight and works fine...

Since i broke it on Fri afternoon, all ive taken is 2 Ibuprofen before bed... The pain is a lot less then i would expect considering i have a couple of snapped bones under my half cast thing.

On the way to the hospital i tried pulling my hand outwards to pop it back into place... the pain was worse then an infected tooth i once had...

i think the swelling is down this morning...

What would you do in that guy's place? Move the arm toward the body and cover face with a palm?

Once I fell ( well, not without a friendly push ) into a high-voltage cable pit, about 15 feet deep. Half way down my back met some iron pipe an inch an a half thick. That was some scary sh1t I can tell you, laying there in the middle of the night among those damn cables not knowing whether I will walk again.

Sounds like everyone should have a layman's medical guide on hand-just in case.

I once fell face first when I was skating really fast. I didn't have time to put my hand out in front of me - if I had I likely would have broken my wrist. What happened was I landed face down with my left arm folded in front of my body. I didn't break anything, but some of my ligaments must have been injured because for four weeks after that I couldn't lift my arm to operate the turn signal lever in my car without excruciating pain. It took six months before I could put my arm over my head, which eventually I was able to do again and could return to another sport I love, swimming.

Hope your healing is quick and complete, Frank.

8) At least you did it while in the line of Dad duty instead of a redneck "Hey everybody watch this. Somebody hold my beer."
the other day I was pussy footing it out to my truck on ice covered with fresh snow and in less then a eye blink I was looking at the sky with nothing between my head and the ice but my leather hat. A three day headache was all but it could have been a lot worse.
Those young sawbones do some amazing work these days with pins and screws but take care to do your part. Your going to need the dang thing to work as well as possible in the years ahead.
