Handle this injury with extreme care. There are a lot of little bones in the wrist, and sometimes they don't want to come back together properly.

My dad almost lost his hand from a broken wrist that wouldn't heal and ultimately lost all mobility in that wrist (after MANY surgeries).

Good luck, but don't mess around with it, and ask your doctor lots of questions.

Sorry to hear about it. Good luck healing.

I know a number of old men who were young in the depression. When they broke an arm they were taken to the vet (uncredentaled vet). They got most of their mobility back... give or take.

I would also concur with what Big Tex said about small bones. I fell on the ice (snow was on top of the ice) taking the garbage out, fell going down the steps and s-n-a-p...felt..and HEARD.(which was worse).the ankle go. I screamed, and hubby came out to pick me up. The little bones were broken, not the big ones.

That was the same snowstorm several years ago where Dr. Atkins fell down in NYC (on ice) , hit his head and died as the result.

That happened in April, in '03. I had to take the season off from the garden center. I was in crutches, then a cane for a bit. The swelling never went down, and I was concerned. It turned out, that my foot was also dislocated! I found out in August, when the muscles had grown over the repair. It took a chiropractor to reset the muscles by manipulation (or whatever they do) and the foot muscles went down within a HALF HOUR. It was amazing. Hurt like heck for that same "snap", then it burned for a minute, then it was like aaahhhhh..relief!!

See a doctor, for sure, but you may want to follow up with a Naprapath or a chiropractor to see if the muscles around the bones are where they should be. It was a big deal for me.

Back then, I wondered if I ever would have been able to walk without a cane.

Hope your injuries heal up, just take it easy, Frank. Sorry to hear you were hurt.

streets of my city were (partially)covered with ice like 1/3 of the winter..And most people walked 1-2-3 miles a day minimum. I don't remember falling more than once a year or so. You learn to keep your balance eventually. Or else.

Owie, Frank! :( At least it wasn't your head, or worse yet, your son. Good luck with the surgery. :)

Me neither but among the superstitions that I allow myself is the refusal to make that observation out loud.

Hey Buddy, got a match?

I'm 38 years old and have broken two bones in my life (outside bone in hand and collar bone).

Both injuries occurred in a 4 week period when I was 14 years old.

Weird.

I was on a ski trip one time and on the way there one of the group slipped in the ice at a gas station and broke her ankle.

My dad was driving to his deer lease one time and hit a deer on the way. He just threw it in the back of the truck and came on home.

Strange world.
