Jeeze, this is like watching Nero tapping out theories while his palace burns.

You people crack me up.
The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities.

I prefer polyarmory. Many different and varied guns. Then I can take your women. :-D

What, eating the alphas or forming the new religion? My post was, of course, a reference to Freud's book Moses and Monotheism. But seriously, dealing with these issues that SeaGypsy raised is a longstanding problem.

No, I just meant that your statement was funny, i didn't get the reference, I thought it was a perfect response.

Oh, I can't help it, it's in my nature: "raising a longstanding problem." 8)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('rangerone314', 'I') wouldn't mind having another wife or two...

Ha! I once lived for a couple of months with a family in a small Indonesian village where the man of the house had three wives - they were Moslems. After living there awhile my Indonesian got to the point where I could carry on a limited conversation, and one day I said to him, 'Hey, it must be great having three wives!' He looked at me and laughed, and basically said, 'Sure, but it's not all it's cracked up to be!' Three times as many dependents to support, they tend to bicker among one another, and if you think being nagged by one wife is bad, try three!

I could see his point.

Choose a wife(wives) like mine who doesn't nag.

Haha, sounds familiar.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ludi', 'M')onogamy isn't especially the norm among Homo sapiens. Polygyny is more common, polyandry less so.
Maybe in the past. Not anymore. Agricultural humans are generally monogamous. I can't really imagine modern women (especially American women) reverting back to polyamory, my GF wants to wring my neck just for the fact that I even still e-mail my ex from time to time even though she's got a new boyfriend (a real douchebag unfortunately) who wants to marry her.

Ha! Mine doesn't either (mostly!), but I don't know if that would still be true if I invited in a couple more!

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Pretorian', 't')here are no monogamous mammals. Not one.

Except 90% of birds that pair up for life.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not here to defend monogamy by any means, if any of you fancy yourselves to have a wicked, irrefutable argument I invite you to take it up with my girlfriend.
