Do it before you die or the IRS will clean out your estate. Sign everything over to one you trust and "gift" everything out before the parasites can come after the estate. Obviously this would not work in the case of accidental death.

Gift tax law is quite lenient. You can give thousands of dollars to people before anyone is taxed.

It takes a little planning and action ahead of death to get your estate gifted away to the people you care about, but it can be done.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('jasonraymondson', 'l')ol you all crack me up. If someone owed you money, slit their wrists and left their estate to their family to get out of paying you... are you saying you wouldn't try to collect.

I don't loan money to Anyone.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'Y')ou are all way to sentimental. That shit will get you killed when the dieoff comes. You need to learn, that there is no black and white.. only shades of grey.

Don't you mean: ..."shades of red?"

They -are- predators and here's why:

These f*ckers don't wait for grieving and probate. They are trained empaths out to catch the grieving off-guard and therefore they are parasites.

The fine line has been crossed once again; and I cry "Bullshit!!!"
Stop filling dumpsters, as much as you possibly can, and everything will get better.

Just think it through.
It's not hard to do.

Then they need to get rid of credit period. You either have cash, or you don't get anything. If someone takes out a line of credit they should be responsible enough to make sure it will be paid back.

Personally, I am just for getting rid of credit. I say if you can't buy with cash, you don't really need it that bad.

Darn tootin'! If you don't have $100,000 for the intensive care unit, you really don't need your life saved that bad.

(BTW, my step-mom finally got out of the ICU yesterday and is improving. Like anyone here cares.)

**I would if I'd have known before.

Did you post about this, Ludi? I must have missed that thread or post. I hope she's on the path to recovery. What's wrong with her? Do both of you get along ok, being that she's a step-mom and all? Some get along better than if they're the birth parents!

Thanks, Blu. I think I mentioned it in passing in a couple threads. She had some kind of metabolic problem, blood chemistry thing, along with several other problems (heart, lungs, stroke, polymyalgia). It took them so long to stabilize her, she was bedridden to the point where she can't even walk now and has to go through physical therapy. It's just been one thing after another. She's one of those "defectives" folks here would "cut the rope" on. She's not even that old, only late 60s.

We don't get along all that well, not being really able to communicate except about what she wants to talk about. So no talking about anything like peak oil. Especially since she's been having all these problems, she and my dad have enough to deal with, I guess. Although with virtually the entire family suffering from serious illness or old-age (my dad is 78), it would be good to be able to talk about problems and the future. But it hasn't worked out well to try in the past.

Fortunately, they have fabulous health insurance, so haven't had to pay for any of this out of pocket. I'm sure it's in the $100,000+ range by now. She's been in the hospital for about a month now.

I guess people who don't have good health insurance just go broke or die. :(

wow Ludi, *just late 60's* sounds unreachable to me, and I'm only fifty. And I'm one of those *just let die* except I happened to work for HEB who had enough for the 249,000 dollar brain surgery and associated costs...(another guy here in town didn't and he's dead) and thats just the luck of the draw....

JJ, I'm hoping to beat my Mom, who died at age 58. I'm trying for 60 and will be happy to make it that far.

Sorry about your step-mom, but that is also what is wrong with this country. Medical cost are to high, they force people to take out loans or die.

If people stopped taking out loans and just didn't pay these million dollar scams, then things might get better.

I think it's really hard for people to tell if it's a scam when it's their life at stake. They're going to agree to any test the docs say they need, even if they don't really need it - how would they know? 8O And if insurance is paying, the sky is the limit, literally.
