DR. UTOPIA'S ISM

For what ails you............................

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '&')quot;Make Mine Freedom" delivers a vitally important message. Produced in 1948, at the beginning of the Cold War, it underscores how utopian fantasies can lead to extreme forms of statism. Exposing the poisonous effects of collectivism and its appealing philosophy, this animated short film explains why American free enterprise is the antidote to the tyranny of the government-issued "-ism."

Utopian fantasies are the highest type of fantasies we can have. What better impulse than to want to improve society? Just because a few people decided to stop thinking @ some point in the process means we should give up the quest entirely?

Pathetic!

Narz, to dream of a utopian society to the point of not dealing with reality is even more pathetic.

True believers tend to subscribe to the notion that the ends justify the means. The result is a mass grave for the nonconformists. There are no perfect men and there will be no perfect societies. Spend your days attempting to perfect yourself. The world will take care of itself.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'N')ot that I condone fascism, or any -ism for that matter. -Ism's in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an -ism, he should believe in himself. I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me." Good point there. After all, he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. I'd still have to bum rides off people.

My cousin took me to see The Watchman movie as a kind of birthday present yesterday. WOW the entire movie is based on the premise that The Ends Always Justify The Means!!!

If this is the message Hollywierd is putting out for action hero's then we are so far gone I wouldn't have beleived it.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Alfred Tennyson', 'W')e are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Fishman', 'N')arz, to dream of a utopian society to the point of not dealing with reality is even more pathetic.

What is reality? Is wanting to change it pathetic? Is being self-employed instead of a rat in a race pathetic?

Generally when people tell you to scrap your dreams & "face reality" it's cause they'd be jealous as hell if you actually succeeded.

Society's broke, it's gotta change, the dreamers are the ones who are gonna make it possible. When, not most of the but the ones who also have the vision & ability to grasp power & get listened to.

I hardly bother to "face reality" (in that particular sense) at all. Consequently I live very close to what I consider my ideal life. :)
