Guantanamo abuse worse since Obama

Unread postby mattduke » Thu 26 Feb 2009, 09:47:29

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')buse of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay has worsened sharply since President Barack Obama took office as prison guards "get their kicks in" before the camp is closed, according to a lawyer who represents detainees.

You can't handle the truth.

But we're going to close Club Gitmo!!! Of course, we (Dems) have NO IDEA what to do with those folks, and the European, long stated to seek consensus with, seem to have the view of " what sucker, you thought we would actually help you with that problem? We would much rather wail and whine". Confusion reigns under the great one's rule, oh, and every time he speaks, the market crumbles some more.

Why is this forum filled with bitter Palin loving douchebag republicans? Critisize him when he does something wrong, shut up until he does.

Superb use of logic there M.
If you missed it I just "Critisize him when he does something wrong"
Stating you will close Gitmo with no plans on how to do it is "something wrong"
Speaking like Wed night night with the market crumbling the next day is "something wrong"

You sir, are clearly an idiot.

Yes, closing Gitmo is the right thing to do. But dumping the inmates all over Europe and among the few remaining US allies is insane.

Why not just drop them off where we found them? I mean c'mon now... the USA has absolutely no critical national interests in the places we picked up most of these poor souls other then maybe opium production (which Obama will guard and support much like Bush II did). Why scatter them among our 'friends'? That's idiotic. How dumb can he get anyhow??

So yes, we should maybe temper our criticism of the war maniac until he actually does something stupid with the Gitmo inmates rather than simply proposing stupid plans.

And maybe not.

Closing guantanamo without knowing where exactly he will put all those prisoners is not "something wrong". its "something right" with a small problem on the way. A problem which im confident he will be able to solve.

Critisize him when he does something wrong but until he does, hide your bitternes.

IMHO, Obama will solve the Guantanamo problem the same way he solved the lobbyist problem and the troops in Iraq problem.

Obama promised he wouldn't hire any lobbyists in his administration (except he now hires lobbyists after he gives them an exemption to his own rule).

Obama promised he will remove US troops from Iraq (except he now says he will leave the 50,000 US troops in Iraq but he will give them an exemption from being counted as US troops in Iraq).

I'll bet Obama will release all the Gitmo prisoners (except for those he will keep imprisoned but will give an exemption to explaining that they aren't really imprisoned anymore).

The Congress just handed Obama a gift.

Now he can claim that it wasn't his fault. He wanted to close Gitmo, you see. The jerks in Congress just didn't give him the money.

It's BS NIMYism. It's okay for us to have people like Charles Manson in our prisons but the Guantanamo inmates, no, those guys are on a whole other plane of evil. They will break out like Lex Luthor. They exude a force-field of malice that will corrupt the surrounding community unless kept a safe distance away. This from the same people who bashed Bush for Guantanamo in the first place. It's an embarassment, and I normally do not unequivocably bash the dems, but they deserve it.

Don't be silly.

The concern isn't that they will break out.

The concern is that the ACLU will file lawsuit after habeas corpus lawsuit until they get them out.

Glad you see some of the light mos. The fear is not break out, its an attempt to break in and release, I predicted this back in November, government by the invertabrates, six years of railing at Bush, now when the cards are called, "we don't want to play".

Talking with Obama supporters, this is causing many of them to blame Obama and not necessarily the Congressional Dems. These are the sheeple that were led to Obama because of his soft voice and dark skin. They can just as easily be led astray.

The GOP is all proud of how they broke the legal system. It'll take decades to straighten things out. especially since the GOP has found a new way to spread chaos, which they'll keep gnawing on like a dog with a bone.

No man should ever be imprisoned without access to the courts.

Period.

No exceptions.

This is a fundamental right that should never be abridged.

People like Plant who think that everybody at Gitmo is guilty of being a terrorist simply because they are at Gitmo don't get it and will never get it.

That is, until they themselves are sitting at a Gitmo like place crying - "wait, I'm not a terrorist."

After all these years without a trial or conviction, each of these prisoners of war should be returned to where they were (illegally) captured. Immigrating them into the USA is really stupid, but stupid is what we expect from this administration.

Is this supposed to be "White Guilt?"

For the GOP, it's the "God particle" that supposedly binds the universe together, but nobody can find it.

Or maybe it's the antimatter - for all the racism out there, there is assumed to be an equal amount of white guilt.

Every country on earth imprisons POWs captured during wars without access to the courts.

The Geneva Conventions allow for POWs to be held until the cessation of hostilities.

I'm amazed that so many people don't understand this.

You're confusing "understand" with "believes it's relevant to the discussion."
