Tax Cheats

Unread postby PenultimateManStanding » Sun 22 Feb 2009, 15:48:25

It seems very ironic to me that the US is putting all this pressure on Swiss banks and their secrecy tradition to go after American tax cheats even while President Obama nominates several tax cheats to high office. One was even nominated and confirmed, Geithner, to head the IRS and Treasury! Things just get stranger all the time. The Swiss courts said, "hell no!" but it was too late, names have been named and sent to Washington.

Its interesting to note that you see commercials advertising cheats to get the most out of your refund. Where did morality go?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Kristen', 'W')here did morality go?

Providing financial support for the government we've had for the last eight years (at least) is moral?

(Leaving aside for the moment the many independent investigators who have provided much evidence that the taxes collected by the IRS don't fund the government to begin with... )

So you see it as a "damn George Bush" thing? Sure he wasn't competent for the job, but neither were Clinton or the first Bush or Reagan or Carter or Ford or Nixon. Well, Nixon maybe in spite of his little foibles. heh heh. Reminds of that guy Lovejoy in "Titanic," who said, "you know, I do believe this ship will sink."

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('PenultimateManStanding', 'S')o you see it as a "damn George Bush" thing?

Not especially, thus the parenthetical qualifier 'at least'. Personally I'd be inclined to extend the criticism at least as far back as the creation of the 'Federal' Reserve. I was just using the example still freshest in most minds... :wink:
