Well gee, let's storm washington with assault rifles to at least provide some bloody entertainment value to bored Alaskans like yourself.

heh heh, the bickering here is funny. I'd like to see who would win a mud wrestling contest, Nancy Pelosi or Sarah Palin. :x

Man PMS I want to come up with a rejoinder to that but all I can think of are flops.
The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities.

It's easy, Pops. Palin hunts moose, she'd kick Pelosi's ass in no time short!

The lesson of Robespierre and Stalin, revolutions rarely ever turn out how the people who start them want.

The Iranian revolution was largely initiated and led by Iranian leftists. When the Shah went the Ayatollahs followers got the upper hand and executed the leftists.......

(My ass is pretty easy to kick, to be honest. Sarah's a couple years younger than I am, and in better shape, I think. )

I'd rather folks get to the revolution action, not so much talk! :)

OK, I have enjoyed chit chatting with you over the years, you're one of my favorites, but back to the topic. How can there be any organized revolution in this era? All we'll get is chaos.

If all we'll get is chaos then there's not much point in me suggesting how to revolt, is there? I could refer you to a number of books and websites which suggest ways of living differently, which if enough people engaged in them, would resemble a revolution, but, there's not much point is there, since you believe only chaos will result in any action, right? :)

That's sort of one of those "I'm asking you a question I know the answer to already" kinds of questions you're asking there, PMS. So why would I bother to answer?

I'm not that into organization myself, so maybe other folks will have to answer you, as it turns out.

I'm not one of those who has been posting in various threads "Ooooh! I'm SO MAD! We're going to revolt any minute now!" like some others.

http://michellemalkin.com/2009/02/21/tea-party-usa-the-movement-grows/

I just saw this at the bottom of a news page for something else, Ludi.

This Feb 27th will see a Chicago Tea Party. http://www.officialchicagoteaparty.com/

I don't know all about this, but I will research more, do you folks want me to go down there? (somebody take up a donation if I get arrested. Earmarked "Blu's Bail Money")

Geez, now I wish I had a PeakOil tee shirt. I could be our correspondent down there. Any other Chi-towners up for it?

We NEED an Official Peak Oil T-Shirt! Can we start a Design Competition?

Don't forget to read SPG's Black Cross information and the other suggestions for self-protection at Demonstrations in the Political Demonstration Preparation Thread

We have them! Haven't you seen them? They were on the front page of PeakOil for a bit, and I think there's a sticky about them in the OPEN list section. Take a look.

I'm still trying to look at all these websites of their's don'tgo.org and the like and wonder who I am getting involved with first. I see Chicagoteaparty.org and then see "don't go".org and wonder "hey, what's up with those mixed messages"? They want us to get on facebook (which I refuse to do) and twitter and organize, 'cept is, when I went on Twitter, there wasn't really any PLACE to be at, just the date and time.
That's not going to get the activists all together in one spot. ????
If someone knows more about this, either PM me or let us know more about what is going on...please..

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Pops', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('HeckuvaJob', '&')quot;Make a plan and work it". OK, this sounds promising. Lets say that we get 90% of our members "peak oil ready" (as defined by... some criteria). What about our communities? After all, no man is an island. But I'm having a hard enough time getting my own shit together.

Ain't that the truth. There are several threads discussing community preparations/transitions/etc. in PFTF but it isn't all about protests I think, mostly about just building ties. grow some tomato starts and give or sell them to a neighbor, help them out when the sink leaks, take over some food when they have a death or birth in the family and take them some cookies at Christmas.

Thank you! I don't mind you and Ludi swatting me with a rolled-up newspaper, as long as you tell me where I AM supposed to go pee. Anytime you remind someone to stay on target, it should include examples of actual targets. Even things that are painfully obvious to you, might not be to someone just starting out.

This is why I mentioned those buzzwords that make you want to hang yourself with your own shoe laces: mission and vision statements. I think it would be a good idea to put into words what our goal here is, using more specific phrasing than preparing for peak oil. Yes, I realize that you could fill a library with the amount of info out there. But I think something like a "50 Steps to PO Preparedness" would go a long way towards keeping everyone on message (our message).

If we don't have a vision, if there is no goal we are working towards and this is simply a place to chit-chat, then can you really complain about what people post?
