That's all bull. Santelli or somebody should stand up on national TV and declare we need to end creating money as debt in loans from banks and the Fed. That would be the rant of the century.

PS - In our current monetary system, paying off all debt would destroy every penny of our money supply.

* "The present Federal Reserve System is a flagrant case of the Government’s conferring a special privilege upon bankers. The Government hands to the banks its credit, at virtually no cost to the banks, to be loaned out by the bankers for their own private profit. Still worse, however, is the fact that it gives the bankers practically complete control of the amount of money that shall be in circulation. Not one dollar of these Federal Reserve notes gets into circulation and without someone paying interest of someone paying interest to some bank to keep it circulation. Our present money system is a debt of money system. Before a dollar can circulate, a debt must be created. Such a system assumes that you can borrow yourself out of debt."

Why do you work so hard?

What is your tax rate?

If you don't want to support deadbeats, don't work so hard. That's probably a lot easier and better for your health than fuming about a revolution you have no intention of beginning.

Yep, and I enjoy the benefits of society. Do I think the present system is perfect? No, not at all.

Those who want to revolt should revolt already! But you won't. You'll just keep bullshitting about it and do nothing.

You don't think the people that are losing their homes while Wall Street gets unlimited bailouts aren't pissed and wanting to revolt? Your telling me that Iraq vets coming home from war and they can't find work or getting laid off and now losing their homes are deadbeats? This is a local story in my town. Iraq vet laid off from Caterpillar and now is making the choice to go back to Iraq if he can't find another job so he can save his home. Not everyone is fat and lazy or a deadbeat because they are suffering now and they sure as hell aren't coasting. How much has AIG received in the last 6 months? Were you ready to revolt when the banks were first getting bailed out? Where did that money go? The game is over, were in a nose dive and there's no pulling out of it. Does another 75 billion even really matter? Its just pocket change compared to the total amount due.

All talk and no action. Bitch, moan, and whine is all I'm seeing.

Who are you going to revolt against, anyway?

I'm not calling anyone a deadbeat, except maybe myself. :)

I watched the tool on CNBC too. They're all a bunch of tools IMO. What do a bunch of fat cat traders have to bitch about anyways? The folks on that channel are so far removed from the common man it's not even funny. Not one of those individuals is making less than 6 figures, I guarantee it. That trader has the gall to bitch about things now after he and his friends took huge advantage of a system that completely enriched them over the past decades, at the expense of the poor and middle class. Makes me sick!

Exactly. Some of the Amish/Mennonites I know came to exactly that conclusion. They couldn't support a warring government in DC. And, the easiest way to not support that government was to live simply enough that they didn't pay federal taxes (or didn't pay very much, anyway).

To put it in Ayn Rand worshipping (which I don't) terms, shrug, already.

It's the most revolutionary thing you can do.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ludi', '
')Only people with an income who qualify will be getting the new loans. But I guess if you prefer your neighborhood to be a ghost town, you should write to your reps to tell them to stop any legislation to help homeowners.

By definition these people were not qualified to begin with. That's what subprime was all about.

Four letters: R-E-N-T. Instead of another bailout, which is really about keeping the price of housing unrealistically high for realtwhores, those who use their homes as ATMs, and banksters, negotiate for these people to rent the houses after foreclosure. Since there is a flood of these houses on the market and will be many more in the near future, rents will be affordable. Also it will help with the "ghost town" problem.

Agreed. I powered down years ago. My living is modest so little of my money is going towards bailing out banksters and fools living beyond their means.

That's about $1000 for every US taxpayer, why don't you ask ones you know individually. If you were dumb enough to buy a house you can't afford, you have to be thrown out, period.

The mo mod plan is outrages on a number of fronts.

The idea that taxpayers and not the banks take the hit should be your first clue as to who this is really meant to benefit here.

Also, how about the millions of folks who have been foreclosed on over the last couple years? Where's EQUAL treatment for them?

How many of these loans to be modified were done fraudulently vis a vis the buyer? There is no discovery process in the legislation to ferret the crooks out.

As for calling Santelli a hack for the well to do, I suggest you learn more about him. He has for many years on CNBC railed against the financial establishment, virtually all by himself. He, and the floor traders at the CBOE are not particularly wealthy either. They are the bluest collared of the white collar financial crowd out there. I play basketball with a couple of these very traders twice a week. They could easily be mistaken for construction tradesmen. They're that down to earth.

I'm all for the banks being forced to take write-downs on these loans, many of which were fraudulent on their end. I'm not for, however, the banks getting away Scot free--AGAIN-- while the taxpayers absorb their bad bets. Let these banks fail. Shit, let the govt start up new banks in their place. But enough of rewarding the very folks who brought us this mess. It's really that simple.

Is this package really directed at subprime mortgages? Recently Ive read that there are more prime loans in default then subprime loans. Someone from this site posted a chart awhile back that showed the number of subprime loans coming way down in the middle of 09 and that Alt-A loans are going to start resetting at that time. Wouldn’t it be wise to try and rework these loans?

My point Pretorian. If 75 billion cost each of us a grand, how much will the 10, 15 or 50 trillion dollars going to cost? Theres no way in hell were ever going to pay for all of this.

Unless you are a high-income earner (over $250,000 a year), it's unlikely you'll need to worry about paying for it.
