$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Boo38', 'I') totally agree with the revolution!! Let's all meet in Washington DC on Good Friday, April 10th to protest!! I'm sick and tired of our inept government spending tons of non-existent money on hopeless fantasies!!! We cannot "repair" this broken system. We need to start over!!

:P So you think that there will be fuel enough to go to DC and back in April and the currency will still buy you a room and meals? Boy are you an optimist.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Pops', 'N')o matter, I agree with Ludi, the more you concern yourself with things you can't change, the less you do about the things you can.

Uh...Many of us HAVE done something.

We moved out into the country, built our little survival farms and now we sit back and wait. Wait for what?

Well, it doesn't matter what, short of the earth blowing up. Those of us who bought land, built a place and got out of the rat race are pretty much ready for anything. And we're having a blast living in the country in the mean time.

You kids in the city have fun playing your games. Yammerin' about your revolutions, your bailouts, your TV shows and your high-fructose corn syrups. We'll spend our evenings drinking home-brewed beer around a campfire in the backyard.

And no, the "zombies" won't find us. Sheesh, most people still can't find my place with a detailed set of directions, a GPS, Google Maps and Rand McNally himself sitting in their front seat. I live in a little, wooded, hidden valley off a dirt road about 5 miles from the nearest major road. And I likes it that way.

Go start your own revolution. Don't make no never mind to me nohow.

Or be one of the smart ones and do what we did. Your choice.

Word to that Boris 5 5 5!

A revolutionary doesn't have to be out in the streets making an ass of himself. That's for the mob...and in this day and age best find which direction the mob is moving and go the other way.

Funny, I read this thread title and I thought it said "Revolt already you peak LOSERS!" But it said "pack of LOSERS!" haha...hah...ha.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('bromius', ' ') What's the problem with occasionally posting about something else?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('bromius', 'W')hat's the problem with occasionally posting about something else?

The problem would be it offends Pops' "Make a Plan and Work It" Philosophy of Life. If you aren't hip deep in horse shit, Pops has no time for your Revolutionary ideals. LOL.

Really Ludi, why the rush here? You want to see people starving? Because that is what it will take to get to a revolutionary point. Right now, a portion of the population has been made uncomfortable, being foreclosed on and losing their jobs, etc. However, they mostly still have a safety net, part Goobermint part family members who will take them in and so forth. When the safety net starts to fail, that is when people will take to the streets. When they no longer have anything left to lose.

On this board in particular, people still have a lot to lose. Only a fraction here are already unemployed, I don't know one member yet who has had his or her house foreclosed on. Regardless of this fact, it does not mean that those who observe a Revolution is becoming more likely, as well as those who think it is a good thing, cannot speak of it or discuss the ramifications of it. Working out the hypotheticals and analyzing what might be is part of preparing one's mind for what is to come.

So, if the Revolution isn't coming fast enough for you Ludi, take a Chill Pill and exercise your mind a little bit by working in the abstract and dissecting the hypotheticals. Pops, you could work your way out of the horse shit once in a while to a higher plane as well ;-) The mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Ok.
Now, just what would that revolt consist of, what would it accomplish etc? Against whom would the revolt be orchestrated. Who is the adversary? What needs to be done? How would such an effort make things any better? Protests don't work much. However, regardless of what one does, being healthy, wealthy, and well-connected gives advantages.

How many people are healthy, wealthy and well-connected? That's a big part of the problem.

')How many people are healthy, wealthy and well-connected? That's a big part of the problem.

Fewer all the time of course. Prior to the crash, distribution of wealth in the US was highly concentrated into a small portion of the society:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', ' ')As of 2001, the top 1% of households (the upper class) owned 33.4% of all privately held wealth, and the next 19% (the managerial, professional, and small business stratum) had 51%, which means that just 20% of the people owned a remarkable 84%, leaving only 16% of the wealth for the bottom 80% (wage and salary workers). In terms of financial wealth, the top 1% of households had an even greater share: 39.7%.

UCSC Sociology

The motivation behind any revolution would be of course to rectify this situation. There are numerous ways of doing it, from Taxation schemes to Nationalization schemes to Judicial schemes to the Guillotine. Pick your favorite method of Redistribution :-) One thing to be sure, trying to hang on to your Wealth if you are in the top 1% probably will not be very good for your Health. Styaing well-connected to your head also might be difficult. :-)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Boo38', 'A') "protest" can easily escalate into something much more effective and interesting! Just get a big mob of angry people together in one place and you'd be surprised what can be accomplished!! Plus it might be fun!! Washington DC, April 10th - Be there!!

What we need is a trigger.

Now let me think.

Hey I know. Does anyone know what Rodney King is up to these days?

All we need to do is get him to stand on a street corner somewere.

Gdam, Pops, that is some very wise words.

Just put it on my whiteboard for my 6th graders to ponder.

8) We just overthrew the government at the ballot box. The guys we put in as replacements look like a car chaseing dog that just caught a school bus by the rear tire. In two years we can overthrow the duberment again but may not want to return the last batch to power. Perhaps a third party will rise up and win it. Perhaps the Peak oil party. 8O In America I'd say that is more likely then a 'the rebels shooting at the army revolution'.It might take two years for all the bills to come due and the crisis to happen anyway.

Machine gun cross fire already on American soil down at the border. As Cali Collapses it will migrate farther north. In my lifetime I will see the sw a war zone. Already in motion. Phoenix highest kidnapping rate, suburban utopia not too long ago. Its funny how so many people do not understand its been happening for a long long time. The fantasy land disney land utopia thing has turned our attention away from what has been happening for years. Funny. Nothing new to me Ive been paying attention to the illegal immigration and overpopulation for many years even during the 90s when everyone was juiced on the black junk and disney land. Hey splash some patchulie on you dum fkks. LOL! One world one love! What a miserable failure......If we maintained our logorithmic growth rate after ww2 it would have been all good. Yet the blame of America pre ww2 goes on and on. A serious dysfunctional situation.

The rub is WHO defines it (and how) "mentally ill" is defined....

As far as the revolt goes people already say I'm revolting..... Maybe I'm misinterpreting that....

I got the point Ludi, I just don't agree with it :-)

As with Pops, whenever you guys go off on one of these "Stop TALKING and DO something" philosophical exercises in valuing the practical over the abstract, I feel it necessary to take up the banner of those who place a high value on abstract analysis and discussion. I personally find most of the practical planning stuff you guys think is so valuable to be quite dull. the board has room for all of us, so I get a little tired when you and Pops attack the abstract thinkers here. Of course you both have given up attacking ME, since that is a no-win proposition, but you give other folks here plenty of grief on this issue so I give you some grief in return, eh?

Plant your Garden, Ludi, and let those of us who find value in discussion of Revolution and Monetary Policy to our threads. Go in Peace.

Agreed.

Who will you revolt against?

Your own actions, or more likely, inactions, put the powers that be in there to begin with.

Gonna revolt against yourself?

The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.
