Car Registration

Unread postby PenultimateManStanding » Mon 16 Feb 2009, 18:06:05

We've got a blue sticker now in Kalifornia. I haven't paid the registration and didn't get my blue sticker. I'm short on cash and will pay it when I can. But in the meanwhile, 2004 was blue too. So I shaved off the other stickers and now I have a blue one just like the 2009 one only it says 2004. If I do get stopped I'll have some explaining to do. I should be able to pay the registration in April. Meanwhile I drive under the limit and don't cross any double yellow lines. 8)

You're finally catching on. I bet you might even qualify for food stamps. Learn some spanish, get a few tats and they won't even bother you with a red or yellow sticker.

heh heh. The insurance company sends me a card that shows me insured for another 6 months even before I pay for it. Just slip that sucker in my wallet and I'm good to go for another six months without forking out a dime! Si puedo, senyor!

Good point, but I wouldn't try it. They can brazenly flaunt that they are out of cash, but let the little guy try it and the shackles are there waiting. Putting up a blue 2004 sticker is pretty much the best I can do.

Maybe you could quit posting so much and get a second job? Mickey D is hiring if you speak Spanish.

Sure, I had a second job at an Italian Restaurant for ten years. But I like posting, I hope it doesn't bother you. But yeah, it's time for me to get a second job. Guess it'll have to be 7-Eleven clerk in the evenings. I'm no Donald Trump. Sucks but I didn't ask to be born deaf.

Here in Wisconsin, if you don't pay your $75 (thats what are reg is now) then if you pay late you get a late fee PLUS the tags still only go back to when they were originally due, so you are down to x amt of months before you need to pay again. I hate to have two cars, but in the end the second one still only costs us a couple of hundos a year to keep around (no payments, liability insurance)...

My point? Get a van and live in it... $80 a year is a hell of a lot cheaper then property taxes :) You don't LEGALLY need car insurance in Wisconsin (one of the two? only states that i know of that allow people to drive around without it) I went for YEARS after high school without it (6?) although i wouldn't recommend it now, unless you have nothing (nothing to lose)...

Give the guy a break, not everyone here can afford 1000 acres, compound, 10 years of rice, 6 wives, penis implant, etc...
lawns should be outlawed.

With CA cities and counties so revenue-hungry these days I wouldn't count on the cops being colorblind.

Have you tried going to the DMV? Think up some lame excuse and they may give you a temporary sticker.

Last month I had to buy as sticker for my plates here in Illinois..78.00. If you are late, it goes up to 90.00.
Then, by the end of June, I have to go to the currency exchange, and buy our City of Chicago sticker we keep on the right hand side of the front window . If you don't have one and park on the street, I think it went up to 100.00 ticket. Every day the cop will come back and ticket you, after 3 tickets you get the Denver boot on the car, and it gets impounded, racking up more fees.

Also, we have over 2800 picture taking cameras that will be happy to see *if* that license sticker is on the car, or the sticker is on the wind shield. So don't think if the neighborhood patrol gave ya a pass, it's going to be swell. Payback is just down the road.

I can just see the attendance for this - 2016 Olympics, being close to zero.

I don't know about most folks, but the amount of sports in TV is boring me. Is the viewership high?

Could they go after you for fraud or purposefully attempting to mislead an officer since you scraped off to the older sticker?

Might have been better of to just let the car get real dirty so you could not see the color of the sticker.

Yeah, I suppose so, but I drive down the street now and I don't have a red sticker like the 2008 one, it's blue, the exact same shade of blue as the 2009 one. And a 4 looks a lot like a 9. If you give Dmitry Orlov any credence, we're on the edge of collapse. Not gonna matter pretty soon. Meanwhile, as I said, I'll pay up in April. It's odd though that they would use the exact same color just 5 years later. You'd think that they could change the hue a bit.

funny thread....

OK here goes. My *Republic of Texas* neighbors have taken the inspection stickers and liscense plates of off all of their vehicles, and issued their own. Registered them with the local courthouse also. All of their vehicles are plastered with "not for hire" "not for commerce" "this is a private vehicle" etc. signs.

They also pay allot their bills (house payments, utility bills, etc. with an irs *1099* bond. (theoretically deducted from the 500,000 dollar bond the department of commerce holds on each citizen).

Al's only been to jail six times this month. (said he paid the fines with the bond)

Heh - Never heard of those... In some sense you can say that the federal government uses its census of SSN's to draw against to float loans. Basically borrowing from the Fed and leveraging more debt against our taxation potential.

 Whats the exchange rate between irs1099 bonds and CA-IOUS?

So we are charting new territory here! Can you print up those IRS 1099 bonds on your printer? Can I issue PMS IOU bonds? Promise I'll pay you back just as soon as the economy gets cranking again.

So seriously when do you think the economy is going to be cranking again?

That's the beauty of it, never! I get the dough & don't have to pay it back. Sweet deal, huh? Who cares about FICO scores when the world is collapsing? All that matters is my sticker is blue.
