Best of 2008: Best Avatar

Unread postby wisconsin_cur » Sat 03 Jan 2009, 09:52:13

OK guys. Same rules as last year. Use this thread to make nominations for "Best Avatar 2008". This category is for a avatar. Please feel free to second, third, etc, other people's nominations. After 10 days (i.e. on January 13), I will close nominations and make the top nominated posters into a front page poll so people can vote. The poll will run another 10 days and on January 23, we'll announce the winner.

Last year's winner in this category was emersonbiggins SUV walking dog.

Good Luck everyone

I'll nominate Tanada's map.

I nominate that avatar as the best reason to get the new version of firefox. It lets you block annoying images like that.

Aw shucks, thanx SPG!

I owe that map to Buckminster Fuller, who invented it, and the Larry Niven discussion group at Larryniven-L.org where I was involved in a long drawn out discusion of the Map of Earth as projected on the Ringworld. Once I discovered Dymaxion maps I fell in love, I have always sought something better than the old Mercator projections and I think Dymaxion is it.

Forgot to say, I nominate RedStateGreen, every time I see the lady of the rake I get a smile on my face thinking about the last line of defense and feisty women.

BT, it says 'BEST' avatar, not 'MOST avatars. Isn't that new one a picture of my old good buddy Pablo Escobar? :)

He was really nice once you got to know him a bit.

I've been rocking the adblock firefox plugin for ages, which lets you do the same thing regardless of version, plus a whole lot more.

Either way, I'm glad I'll get to get rid of my avatar soon. :-D

Just be careful if you ever try to uninstall it. Back up your bookmarks file first. I know.

The nomination process is complete. Vote for your favorite in the poll. The poll will run for one week, then we'll announce the winner.

And Chuckmak, I do love you sweetheart. Just not your avatar.
