An extinct ibex was cloned. It died shortly after "birth" but raised the possibility of cloning extinct species if they can make further progress. The DNA of Woolly Mammoths is available as well. There is even talk of cloning dinosaurs. There must be some preserved dinosaur DNA. Maybe inside a mosquito preserved in amber?

Trouble is, the dinosaur DNA that is found is in small fragments and there is no reference to look up how the pieces fit together. Most of it is degraded beyond interpretation. They could use bird DNA to get a basic idea, but no-one can be sure how much things have changed over the last 65 million years.
