Apocalypse in 2012? Date spawns theories, film

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('CNN', ' ')Fueled by a crop of books, Web sites with countdown clocks, and claims about ancient timekeepers, interest is growing in what some see as the dawn of a new era, and others as an expiration date for Earth: December 21, 2012.

The date marks the end of a 5,126-year cycle on the Long Count calendar developed by the Maya, the ancient civilization known for its advanced understanding of astronomy and for the great cities it left behind in Mexico and Central America.

(Some scholars believe the cycle ends a bit later -- on December 23, 2012.)

Speculation in some circles about whether the Maya chose this particular time because they thought something ominous would happen has sparked a number of doomsday theories.

The hype also has mainstream Maya scholars shaking their heads.

"There's going to be a whole generation of people who, when they think of the Maya, think of 2012, and to me that's just criminal," said David Stuart, director of the Mesoamerica Center at the University of Texas at Austin.

"There is no serious scholar who puts any stock in the idea that the Maya said anything meaningful about 2012."

So what do Mayan scholars think was going on in ancient minds about the future of their world?

The day after 12.19.19.17.19 is 13.0.0.0.0.

So what?

A b'ak'tun is only 394 years long.

The 13th b'ak'tun started on September 18, 1618

Did the world end then?

The eight spoked wheel, the time when we have a terrestrial alignment with the divine alignment.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he arrows of the Saggitarius points to the dark rift, which is the gravitational waves emitting from the black hole, and incident which happens every 11,000 years, an event where the drawings of Nostradamus predicted three eclipses before this event to occur. The culmination of this event is expected to occur similar to the Mayans on 21 December 2012.

The book of life after 2012 is empty.

The wheel of time has stopped. The spokes are empty.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he predictions of Nostradamus were in agreement with the scientist of today that the solar system will pass through the galactic plane of the Milky Way galaxy, as the earth enters its 25,800 year precession. When this happens, the gravitational wave, which exist as a flat plane along the equatorial region of the milky way sends this across any passing solar system, including Earth and the Sun, causing earthquakes in both Sun and all the planets. In this region there are broken planets and asteroids that may cause near massive object collision with earth, but also as the solar system passes the equatorial region will the planets, including earth shifts its rotation. According to Nostradamus, when this passes, whole continents will be under water in a matter of 6-10 hours, where most of Asia will be underwater, but also other coastal regions. The land will sink fast and responsible for most of the destruction, but during this passing the earth will lose its orbit around the sun, massive earthquakes starts from the polar shifts and gravitational waves bringing on earthquake and sinking of continents. The spokes of wheel disappears in one of Nostradamus drawings which signifies that earth will no longer be in orbit or following cycles, and hence the disappearance of spokes.

2012: NASA sees start of “new solar cycle”
Image

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A') bumpy ride ahead for sats and power grids. (Image: NASA)

NASA today published a forecast for a “big and intense” new solar cycle in 2011 or 2012, which its suggests will wreak havoc on satellite GPS and telecommunications, power grids and air traffic.

NASA says the next solar cycle, Solar Cycle 24, “could make itself felt as never before.”

We are now at the end of Solar Cycle 23 (see graphic, and excerpts, below), according to the U.S. space agency.

Great, more to look forward to.

Great stuff for the "In the event of rapture, this vehicle will be unmanned" crowd.

Glad I'm not in Asia for the great swamping. But life without the power grid won't be any fun at all.

From now on until the end of 2012, time will seem to speed up. Major events that happened once in a decade will happen at a faster and faster rate, from once in a decade, to every year, to every day, to many in one day. The top is spinning faster and faster as we speak. The Mayan predicted this with their TUN Calendar.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')ccording to the encoded timeline in the Mayan Calendar, the feeling that time is moving faster will continue to increase over the 4.13 years remainig from Sept 9, 07 to Oct 28, 2011. This doesn't mean time is moving faster - it only feels like it. What is actually moving faster, is consciousness.

We do not actually see consciousness moving, what we do see is the effect of "C"onsciousness working on us internally, in the mind, and on events that occur around us every day. Now, more than ever before, many are feeling an internal growing un-rest.

The things that used to provide us with comfort and satisfaction are becoming increasingly less fulfilling. We are sensing a growing inner disturbance. This is a driving force of Universal Intelligence for awakening us to our true condition. The discomfort and disturbance we experience moves us toward growth. We see more EVENT happening, which can appear as chaos without an understanding the grand design of Universal Intelligence grand for humanity. More and more and more is happening in a shorter span of time, yet much more is possible within less time!

For example: January 5, 1999, the Mayan Calendar timeline moved into an entirely new cycle.

After January 5, 1999, more events take place in a shorter amount of time; 20 times more! In other words, all that used to happen in a 20 year period of time, now takes place in 360 days! If more is happening in less time, would you feel like TIME is moving faster? You bet.

When a LOT more is happening in a shorter time-span, it definitely feels like time is moving faster! Even though, it really isn't. A minute still takes a minute; an hour still takes an hour. Your watch isn't moving faster however, Creation or Consciousness, certainly is, and what is going on inside you is accelerating at the same pace!

This date will pass like all the others. Humans seek patterns, meaning and significance in everything. It's how we make our highly successful way in the world- from our earliest days learning to recognise our mother's face on out, we catalogue images and connections.

Our amazing brain serves us well in this, but it has it's drawbacks too, usually manifested in the inability to recognise when things aren't significant. A good example might be believing coincidence to be evidence of a greater scheme at work, or drawing lines between stars and finding pictures of animals, or wondering if someone is ok and finding out they're unwell and seeing this as evidence of psychic abilities(conveniently forgetting all the other times when you wondered if they were ok and they were fine). These ideas often coincide with the idea that humankind, and in particular oneself, is at the center of things, so to speak.

The date 2012 is a human generated pattern, and will pass like all our other patterns. I'm just glad that, at least for this latest doomsday, no one is suggesting that you'll need to be on a special spaceship to avoid it, and there's only one way to get on board. The inablility to apply quality control to pattern recognition can take human beings to some terrible places.

2012 is a human generated pattern? WTF.

It's about the Stars and our Planet.

We do not live in a nice little man-made bubble on this earth without outside forces.

Besides, the earth has experienced many doomsdays in the past.

Regretted that phrasing as soon as I pressed submit- I knew you'd jump on it :-D

The date 2012 is part of a cycle, given anthropocentric significance it doesn't merit by some people, and will pass like all the other cycles.
