What's your favorite name for the POTUS?

Postby dinopello » Mon 26 Jan 2009, 20:26:48

Many presidents have had nicknames - Eisenhower was Ike, Reagan was The Gipper, Bush 43 was Dubya, but I've never experienced a President that has so many names as our 44th.

Mattduke seems to like "Dear Leader", Alexdelarge calls him "The One", Plantagenet and PMS have often used his adolescent handle "Barry", various other have used "Oobs" or some other kind of phonetic nomiker. How do you refer to The President ?

I just call him Barack or Obama. No reason to be insulting and I don't think that he's earned a nice name for himself yet. I'll occasionally call him Hussein (حُسَين) - but that's more of a Muzlim thing.

I really like Dear Leader

I realize it's totally insulting to The Great Dear Leader of the Revolutionary Communist DPRK, but still it has a nice sound. :)

When ever I turn on my TV I can hear all the pundits sing:

Barrack Obama, Superstar.
Do you think you're what they say you are?
If you give a man a fish you will have kept him from hunger for a day. If you teach a man to fish he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('dinopello', 'P')MS [has] often used his adolescent handle "Barry",
Really? I think I did use it once, but that's it. I don't generally participate in Obama threads as I prefer to discuss Star Trek or grammar.

What have you been smoking? I've never called President Obama "Barry." His name is Barrack Obama, and as a mark of respect I think we should call our president the name he prefers to be called by or we should abbreviate it in the standard time-honored way for Presidents by just using his initials, i.e. "BO".

Hank, short for حُسَين, right?

Might be good to spell it correctly too, while you are respecting him and all. Maybe you haven't used Barry since he's taken the oath, but certainly before. That's how I learned of his grade-school name.

I should have put the initials as an option. PMS found it hilarious.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('cbxer55', 'I')'ll stick with oobs (oops with a b) for the next 4 years.
Will be happy to retire that in 2012, cause he aint no two-termer.
He's going to round up people and put them in Halliburton camps. He's going to suspend the Constitution and the 2012 elections and declare martial law. There will be giant posters of him all around the cities.

Naw, that was what Dubya did, don't you remember?

Except the posters were shoe targets...

All it would take is a collapse of the commercial real estate market and a second stimulus check. Both are in the works.

Of course I remember, Pops. I read all about it on the internet. First, Clinton was going to do it. Then Dubya was going to do it. Now Obama is going to do it. Personally, I think it will have to wait until Jenna Bush is Madame President. Then we'll see all of those terrible things actually happen. Sarah Palin will be the veep and the real power behind the office.

Now get your mind out of the gutter, dino. Were talking serious crisis here. Besides, Clinton didn't do it, not like, say, JFK did it. Clinton just kind of laid back and had it done to him while talking on his cell phone.
