Change! Animals sue humans assisted by human councils

Unread postby Jotapay » Wed 21 Jan 2009, 14:05:07

Obama's pick to head the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, Cass Sunstein, is evidently a nut who wants to give animals the right to sue humans in court. The animals will have a human council that speaks for them. OMFG /FACEPALM

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')n a 2007 speech at Harvard University, Sunstein argued in favor of entirely "eliminating current practices such as … meat eating." He also proposed: "We ought to ban hunting, I suggest, if there isn't a purpose other than sport and fun. That should be against the law. It's time now."

Sunstein wrote in his 2004 book "Animal Rights: Current Debates and New Directions" that "animals should be permitted to bring suit, with human beings as their representatives … Any animals that are entitled to bring suit would be represented by (human) counsel, who would owe guardian-like obligations and make decisions, subject to those obligations, on their clients' behalf."

He's obviously just trying to mitigate peak oil by turning us all into vegetarians

What a great untapped resource for lawyers to make even more money off.

"My client categorically states that he did not want to go walkies on the evening of the 27th, and the compensation we claim from the defendant should reflect that."

No kidding. If you think the dockets look crowded now, just wait 'till the goldfish and hamsters are suing...

Read the whole statement. The elimination of meat eating would go a long way to avoiding/lessening the die off. Gotta focus on the positive, here.

Our District Court is known as the Rocket Docket

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he term was originally applied to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia,[1] after Judge Albert V. Bryan Jr., who ran the federal courthouse in Alexandria, decided that justice was being dispensed too slowly for his liking. The court earned the nickname among attorneys practicing there in the 1960s, who told stories of Bryan ruling on the spot when motions were argued, and trying entire cases in one afternoon.

For the animal cases they could have a pit in the courtroom with Lions that they toss the offenders into. Or a tank with sharks with frikin' laser beams on their heads.

Who wants that ? It just postpones things. Die-off happens anyway. Die-off without bacon ? No thanks!

I'd rather face the lion than the hordes of starving post-peak suburbanites.
