$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('yeahbut', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('AlexdeLarge', 'T')he Obama bubble will burst too...[snip]
...We are witnessing "Peak Obama".
Time to slide down the backside of the curve..............
Well, of course. It's called a honeymoon period. This is an extreme, all-American OTT five ring circus honeymoon, but these are very extreme times, with a lot of people genuinely scared about what the next few years will bring- nevertheless, the condition itself is not unique to this election or indeed to the US. Newly elected leaders, especially ones that seem to represent change after a govt has become unpopular(think Tony Blair in '97 in the UK, or Reagan in 1980)are usually greeted with near adulation and enjoy a period where they can do no wrong. Political BAU(bullsh#t as usual), but with a tangy little whiff of hysteria and a last days of Rome vibe to suit the current times.
No doubt the backlash, when all the hot air and hoopla has cooled down and it becomes apparent that the recession/depression will not be turned around with a magic obama wand, will be correspondingly extreme. It will be interesting to see how long that process takes.
I don't think so. You literally have millions of people who see this coronation as a personal validation, including many white liberals. They will forgive anything Emperor Obama does. And don't think for a second this is not an imperial Presidency from Jan 20th 2009.
