U.S. seeks ship to move arms to Israel

Unread postby mattduke » Fri 09 Jan 2009, 23:25:48

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he U.S. is seeking to hire a merchant ship to deliver hundreds of tonnes of arms to Israel from Greece later this month, tender documents seen by Reuters show. The U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command (MSC) said the ship was to carry 325 standard 20-foot containers of what is listed as "ammunition" on two separate journeys from the Greek port of Astakos to the Israeli port of Ashdod in mid-to-late January.

A "hazardous material" designation on the manifest mentions explosive substances and detonators, but no other details were given. "Shipping 3,000-odd tonnes of ammunition in one go is a lot," one broker said, on condition of anonymity.

You're going to get heart-attacked if you keep this up. The Zionist/NWO bunch do not allow this.

Looks like an all out regional war coming soon.

Israel supposedly received 28,000 TOW missiles (taking a page out of Hezeb Allah's book) in recent months. (who knows the real number...likely less)

Lebanon is the next shoe to fall....5 missiles already.

and Iran is keeping its citizens inside and out of the combat zone they are dying to occupy... they have a plan, that is for sure.

I doubt it. I think it's going to fizzle out like Lebanon.

It's a piece of grossly overpopulated desert. Eventually everyone gets sick of killing over it for awhile and heads home to wait for the next excuse to kill the neighbours.

Iran has zero reason beyond the standard we hate Israel reason to get involved here.

I'd expect a slow sputtering out of this war soon enough.

This gets more complicated as time goes by. This one got my head spinning

Bases

If U look at the story on the above link with regard to US monitoring of Israel and the date on that story it quickly makes one realize that nothing Israel does is without US OK.

Nothing is simple in this region :-)

As a muslim, I used to feel pity and sorry for muslims in Arabian Peninsula particularly to Palestenians and Iraqis. But after giving a serious thought, these same Arabs and Palestenians are the grandkids of those who rebel against the Ottoman Empire, they literally back stabbed the Ottoman forces with the help of British intellegince. In other words they made friends with Christians to rebel against their muslim father, the Ottoman Empire.

Saudis even went further and let the British forces settle in Mecca and Medina so that they can fight the Ottoman forces. They did despite the fact that Koran specifically orders non-muslims to be kept away from Mecca. I will not feel pity and sorry for Saudis who will be killed in a possible future war.

I do not feel sorry or pity for Palestanians or Iraqis in that matter. You rebel against your protector your guide Ottoman Empire and make friends with Brits who promised fantasy to them. Let them die under Jewish bombs. I can't care less. Not that I like Jews either but somebody needed a lesson big time.

And for the Jews. Haven't you learned anything from what happened to you in WWII in Germany?

BEIRUT, Jan 11 (Reuters) - U.N. peacekeepers in south Lebanon found suspected explosives hidden in a garbage truck in front of their base on Sunday, the peacekeeping force said in a statement. Two Lebanese men who had been in the vehicle had been handed over to Lebanese security forces for questioning, according to the statement issued by the Italian contingent of the UNIFIL peacekeeping force.

An estimated 2,500 Lebanese and Palestinians also protested peacefully in downtown Beirut on Sunday, while hundreds of demonstrators in neighbouring Syria shouted insults at the both the Jewish state and Arab leaders.

Many of the protesters in Lebanon held Palestinian flags and banners calling on the international community to stop the Israeli attack as they marched near a building that houses United Nations offices.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he German-owned cargo vessel, Wehr Elbe, under charter by the US Military Sealift Command, is currently in Greek waters with its transponder tracking turned off to prevent its location being identified.

Amnesty International has written to the foreign secretary, David Miliband, asking him to make "urgent approaches to the US, German and Greek governments to prevent this, or any pending or future shipments of weaponry until it can be verified that they will not be transferred to the Israeli Defence Forces or other parties to the conflict in Gaza.

"We urge you to ensure that no EU member state will allow their ports or other facilities to be used to transit these or any other weapons to any of the parties to this conflict."

The Wehr Elbe, owned by the Hamburg company Oskar Wehr, arrived outside the Greek port of Astakos on 1 January, where it was due to transfer its 1,000 containers to another vessel for delivery to Ashdod in Israel.

But after a two week stand-off, amid local protests in Greece, it moved out into the Mediterranean two days ago and disappeared off tracking websites.

Israel declared a 10 day unilateral (one sided) "cease fire".

They must feel desperate for those arms.
