$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('JJ', 'h')e just wanted to be on TV.

I'll buy that. His term is ending soon so I don't see him passing up any chances to spin his legacy.

I have to admit at being impressed by his agility (this is the only time in 8 years, mind you). It almost looked rehearsed. Like a live performance of Whack-A-Mole.

I liked his response to questions while he was in Afghanistan.

Some reporter asked him if he understood the shoe throwing was an insult, and he said "so what when I drive down the road people do not always wave ALL THEIR FINGERS" LOL

1. It is highly unlikely that Bush was engaged in a conspiracy with the shoe thrower. Bush is a very physically fit guy for someone his age, and he nicely dodged the shoes.

2. Bush didn't extend any contracts during his visit to Iraq and he couldn't "extend our contracts" even if he wanted to.....in another month he won't even be President, and then Obama will be in charge of contracts etc. in Iraq. FYI, Obama has promised to have all US forces out of Iraq in 16 months. Hopefully he will do it much more rapidly then that. 8)

Maybe if JFK had been shot from the front and could have ducked as fast as Bushie then we would be free from the Federal Reserve for 45 years now.

It's been merged because we had FOUR (4) separate threads on the famous shoe tossing incident. It's now here. :)

I'm curious, is there an established procedure for which thread to merge the rest into ? Is it by which was the earliest thread? The one with the most posts? The one with the best title ? This one wins on the last count !

Click here for a link to a petition supporting the release of shoe-throwing journalist Montadhar Al-Zaydi.

I also sent an email to my Member of Parliament, and Prime Minister Harper:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'D')ear Mr. (Member Of Parliament)

As your constituent, I request that you take immediate and appropriate steps to demand humane treatment and the release of Iraqi Journalist Muntadhar al-Zeidi, who is currently being detained by Iraqi police for throwing his shoes at American president George W. Bush at an Iraqi press conference on Sunday, 14 December, 2008.

Muntadhar al-Zeidi expressed the anger and deep frustration of millions around the world in this act of righteous contempt towards George W. Bush, whose lie-based drive to invade Iraq in 2003--and the subsequent, ongoing occupation--cost the lives of tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis.

Mr. (Member Of Parliament), I am furthermore greatly saddened to hear reports that Mr. al-Zeidi has been violently beaten while in police custody. Please speak up for your constituents and all Canadians, and demand fair, humane treatment for Muntadhar al-Zeidi and a speedy release to freedom.

Sincerely
Dr. G
