I think its sooooo cute that some of you still believe there's a difference b/w the Dems and Reps. How nostalgic!

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('ReverseEngineer', 'I') hope he has a real good bunker after he leaves office.

Well, there's the ranch in Paraguay. He should be fairly safe there. Everyone he's pissed off will be too poor to travel that far.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('drgoodword', ' ') While I am deeply opposed to all things Bush, the guy ducked those shoes like a champion and stood his ground. If only he was that nimble and cool-headed in presidential matters more important than shoe-ducking.

Yup.

Bush showed some moves. It would've been worse if the shoes had hit him, or if Bush hadn't restrained the secret service guys and a melee had occurred.

Nonetheless, I bet Obama could have done an even better job of ducking shoes with his basketball reflexes. He would've made it look cool somehow.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('smallpoxgirl', 'G')uess the press are all going to surrender their shoes before they're admitted to the press conference from now on.

Yeah, from now on, all press conferences will be held in the nude, like a bunch of monkeys... I wonder what they'll come up with to fling then.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Fishman', 'A')h, the good old days when Saddam would have torture the journalist and buried him in an unmarked grave. Bush frees his sorry a&& country and then does this crap.

$10 says this reporter already has electrodes attached to his genitals and he's being "convinced" to turn in all of his neighbors and relatives as we speak.

Oh for the good old days when Saddam was in power, and journalists could have buried Bush in an avalanche of shoes, and then a state holiday declared in their honour.

Bush was asked why it happened, and he said that the guy probably wanted to be on TV.

The guy who threw the shoes is a TV reporter for an Egyptian station.

Maybe the guy was a little ticked off. He gets plenty of TV time already.

"This is a farewell kiss, you dog," al-Zeidi yelled in Arabic as he threw his shoes. "This is from the widows, the orphans and those who were killed in Iraq."

Now that's a true national hero. After the last of the illegal occupation forces depart this guy will be elected President of a free Iraq.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('hope_full', 'F')ishman, I think I'm in love...

Obama is going to try another go at FDR's Keynesian "let's outspend the depression" crap and that didn't work too well in the 1930s. And those many decades ago, America was in much better shape than today.

Here's a link to the article you referenced, where WP ombudsman Deborah Howell says the coverage in the Post was very much in favor of the Big 0.

Hate to break some news to you, but Bush already started the spending spree. In fact, it started 8 years ago, but with $8.5 trillion lent this year and all, not to mention all the guarantees of Fannie and Freddie debt, Citi debt etc., anything Obama does is just icing on the cake.

The guy's a patsy. He couldn't have thrown that second shoe . . there had to be someone else, someone else on the sandy knoll . . unless . . unless, it was some sort of 'magic shoe' . .

Reagan showed that trickle-down doesn't work and Bush relearned this same lesson the hard way (thanks a lot.) Obama will take a different approach and I predict we'll see slow - but steady - improvements. He also won't repeat some of the mistakes that FDR made, like trying to balance the budget!

The best line in the shoe throwing episode was when GWB said: "All I can report is that it was a size 10."

Ba-da BOOM!

You ALL have been FOOLED!

That was not a shoe he was throwing to the president, it was the long-promised FLOWERS!

Sadly, the Iranians turned on their Improbability Drive, and it converted the flowers into a shoe. When the reporter saw his first boquet get transformed, he threw a second, and it changed too. The reporter was so flustered, he bungled his poem of love from Iraq's widows and orphans for Bush! Honest!

(We must bomb Iran to stop their Advanced Technology!)

You folks don’t get it. You’ve got the embodiment of the full force and power of the United States ducking shoes. In the minds of many Arabs we are done. The price of that misconception will be paid in blood and tears.

CORRECTION

You folks don’t get it. You’ve got the embodiment of the full force and power of the ARAB WORLD throwing shoes but nothing else. In the minds of many Arabs this was a great act. The price of that misconception will be paid in blood and tears as they continue to kill each other at incredible rates.
