Nixon was silent for 3 years after leaving office. America wanted the guilty verdict it never got. Nixon wanted a chance to spin his legacy. He picked Frost because he thought he'd be an easy mark. They sat down and sparred for over a hundred hours. This was distilled into 3 hour-long broadcasts (I believe).
